Not bad, and dripping with the feel of Batman's universe; where hope fights against weary acceptance of corruption and ugliness. Gotham however fast becomes repetitive and once the 2nd second ramps up it becomes ridiculous.

Well shot and performed, but horrible writing and bland plot lines mean this is a missed opportunity.

Overwhelming atmosphere and underwhelming story telling is a bad bad contrast. Some artist act great some is poor this is a bad contrast too. So fine art directory and visuals but bad screenplay.. Im a serious Batman and Gotham City fan but this series is so confusing. And shows us always same scenarios under different circumstances. And its boring.

The good: the Sofia Falcone storyline, Joker from S4 (Jeremiah), Penguin, Ecco, Barbara from S4 The bad: Gordon, Grundy, Lee, Poison Ivy The ugly: young Bruce Wayne (they do get it sort of working from S4), The Mad Hatter, most short plots are terribly cringeworthy

Season 1 & 2 are easily 87/100 for me. After a while it gets a bit repetitive (like how many times someone came back from the dead after being dumped in the river ?).

My irritation with the played-out prequelitis trend aside, this series exists as an interesting mix of comic book and soap opera, although it hews closer to the latter than I'd like. A lot of the plot twists come off as repetitive, unrealistic, and stupid. But even with that aside, the show walks a fascinating line between intentional and unintentional silliness. It also has excellent cinematography and acting, once you look past the abject stupidity of what actually goes on on the screen.

Season 1: Unimpressive at its best. There are some standouts; Ben McKenzie is cool and Robin Lord Taylor rocks, but with lame ducks like Jada, and Bruce Wayne's story arcs, a show so uninteresting is put together that I don't think I'll watch the rest of the series.

Gave it several go's but it was about as boring as a show based around superheros can be. It's well made, I will give it that.

The city itself has always been the best part of Batman. The first series teases with some sociological understanding. Sadly it doesn't become the superhero The Wire hinted at, settling for soap-y instead. Patchy cast didn't help either

The series sometimes couldn't figure out whether it wanted to center around Gordon or Bruce, and so it got a little distracted at times, and the prequel nature had them too afraid to pursue certain character development. I do think the later seasons did do a good job at correcting some of the earlier seasons' mistakes however, and the series built to an awesome ending. I would have liked for David Mazouz to have been able to grow a bit more into the character, but it worked.

It keeps me drawn into the story while its playing, yet when the show ends and I leave to do other stuff it doesn't seem to draw me back in. The story is as original as it could be while recounting the stories we already know. The villains are also nicely fleshed out instead of cardboard cut outs.

Absolutely love the moodiness and comic-book style extravagance of this show. The storylines are at times predictable and the plot twists are rarely unexpected but the characters have me hooked!

Contrary to most people's opinion, I actually prefer the 1st season of Gotham when the show was relatively grounded and about rival crime families, backstabbing cronies and power grabs. The subsequent seasons introduce an inordinate number of villains to the point of absurdity. The acting and writing are both uninspired, with characters going through the motions again and again. There are great moments but there is also a lot of stupidity.

I find the show visually quite nice to look at and I've actually come to kind of enjoy Robin Lord Taylor's colorful, cheesy take on the Penguin. In many other ways though it is just too dull and grim, and making little boy Bruce Wayne a main character was a HUUUUUGE mistake (he should have been a guest star appearing in no more than 20% of episodes tops). The DC TV universe is much better represented by Arrow and The Flash.

*batman bonus points in effect* seasons 1-3 are great, season 4 slides. season 5 writing is pretty bad. otherwise great character acting by the cast. penguin is a stand out. barbara seems to reinvent each season. set design and decor is top notch. they really build the world of GOTHAM..

(Season 1) The characters can be a bit flat and the story can be a bit messy and unengaging in places but it's dark, gritty and there are still some pretty good moments here.

The writing is bland at best and awful at worst, and it can't pick a tone to save its life. I don't know whether the writers are just this bad or they think their audience is beyond stupid but the entire thing is a cynical, uninspired mess.

starts great but becomes increasingly silly around season two. Very disappointing finale. Ultimately I wish I hadn't watched this.

So far it has been very hit and miss with particular story lines. Ben McKenzie is a formidable lead but even at times his charisma and bold take on the character of James Gordon is not enough. Donal Logue is an absolute wonder as Harvey Bullock and most of the supporting cast at times is good. There is just to much happening and not enough character development for this show to be a masterpiece.

I love this rendition of Gotham and the backstories is highlights. Sometimes the character development staggers or goes to standstill, but the story outweighs this aspect. Additionally, sometimes there is flat acting. But again, the story of our favorite superhero wins against this!

Underwhelming to say the least. Story line is quite boring and some characters are just plain annoying. (Jada) The story mainly don’t go nowhere and it doesn’t help that Mckenzie things he’s the second coming of Bale and imitates his gruff voice. Something that is even more cringeworthy done later by Mazouz when the writers turn Bruce Wayne into a emo goth teenager.

Meets the aesthetic fairly well and has some good performances like the penguin. I never watched too much of it so I can't say if it dips into bad quality.
