first few episodes were soso, but once the protagonists installed the vacuity of the show appeared. The relation between the both was whatever. The young one became even more annoying than Juno. The gay substory was pure filler -0 interest and logic - just to check off the boxes. The "jokes" were just some name droppings of doubtfully neo cool vague stuff like WikiFeet or DivaCup. Actually each scene was nothing but set for badly put product placement

For a show about 2 comedians, you would expect laughs. But after an entire 5 hour season...nope.

Jean Smart is terrific as the "legendary" comedienne Deborah Vance--a character clearly based, at least in part, on Joan Rivers. When she's doing her act, or sparring with Ava, it's consistently laugh-out-loud funny. Ava's character is such a self-involved twat it's difficult to feel much sympathy for her, but at least she's funny when she's angry. Paul W. Downs is pretty great as Ava's agent--he's both amusingly charming and makes crystal clear why everyone hates agents.

Jean Smart is a national treasure. The first season was really good, but I feel like the show really found its voice in the 2nd season. Can’t wait for more to come.

I like the comedy aspects but the drama feels too forced and ruins the vibe for me.
