This Soviet film is obviously a social satire, but I have to admit that exactly what it was satirize was largely lost on these western eyes. It was mildly amusing, but I am obviously not the intended audience.

enjoyable counter-revolutionary satire

A fantasy story which can be read through metaphors and it appeared to be a story of communism, a very political version which was not possible to make as a movie until perestroika. The forbidden original book was written in 1925 by Mikhail A. Bulgakov. Is it possible to make a brand new, better future out of peason's heart?

A retro sf picture made for USSR television. Not without its problems, but a bizarre, intriguing little movie with a story into which you can read all kinds of metaphors
