The first 3 episodes construct an interesting story helped by sharp writing (especially for 2024 standards) and editing. I was starting to believe in it. Alas then, it deflates, it becomes campy like so many vampire tales already are and i'm not looking for a less-funny True Blood. Louis, the best actor on the show, gets stuck in a state of sulking and his relationship with Lestat never becomes believable enough to warrant the melodrama. There's talent on board, but the ship sailed the wrong way

S1: 75 | S2: 80 | I think the TV format works a lot better for the story. I’d also say the race swapping of the main character adds a very interesting dynamic considering the time period. The acting is great, tone is well balanced, and the pacing finds a good rhythm after the first couple episodes. I liked the movie, but I think this is the definitive adaptation.

Too often veers into cringey, anachronistic wokeness, but the the acting is excellent, the emotions are heartfelt, and the new twists and turns are satisfyingly fresh.

Abandoned by the end of s01 because it didn't really engage me. The episodes look good, but I didn't find the overall vampire romance plot relatable. Maybe if it was about love, or abuse, or exploitation, but it's not. It feels like the writers don't know where they want to go with it, meaning the protagonist has unclear, inconsistent character development. Basically the problem with modern shows is they're afraid to use archetypes, which leaves their stories scattered, meandering, and weak.

I find what makes vampire stories interesting is how it makes us relate with a different perspective on life. But I couldn't connect with the vampire here

Extremely solid melodrama, very theatrical and lyrical though maybe too cheesy for some. I found the first season to be perfect, the second somewhat a little more awkward with mishaps in terms of pacing and characterization. Still very good. They just needed to hire more french speaking background characters. My god some of those attempts are beyond atrocious.
