Slight but largely enjoyable folk horror effort from what was Yugoslavia. Some of the scenes with the somewhat bumbling townsfolk are a bit wearying, but there is plenty to like here. Charming.

Perhaps my only Yugoslav made-for-TV movie, and I’m the better for it. The village patriarchs come across like the Firemen at the Fireman’s Ball, or a gabble of Monty Python gumbies (especially the priest). It does have a lot to say about the folk horror experience, provided its incredibly obscure and localized context.

Was that a were vampire? Or a vamp wolf? Anyways cool flick, as much a drama as it is a horror movie.

This is a solid folk horror, as long you keep your expectations in check and remember that it's a Yugoslavian TV-movie from 1973. It's only about an hour long and the "horror" scenes amount to just some minutes; there's actually more scenes of goofy humor and tonally the film feels quite inconsistent. That said, it has a distinct atmosphere and should appeal to fans of e.g. Bava's Black Sabbath (Wurdalak segment) and Valerie.

This was a minor but mostly fun film with a easy to see but still entertaining twist and some tedious and dumb scenes thrown in for good measure.

Terrifying....ly bad. Not scary, nor well told. Like an early TV production. Ignore the high scores.

There is a better folk horror hidden here somewhere, but that remains an unrealized potential.
