This woman is nuts.

Freed from the need to "get a laugh" frequently from a large audience, the material and delivery can be much more unusual. The initial awkwardness dissipates quickly when it becomes apparent that Bamford's parents are genuinely enjoying themselves.

Bamford's brand of insanity is decent here, but is too incoherent and the format doesn't land. I have seen better from her.

Endlessly re-watching "The Maria Bamford Show" on YT is just about the only thing keeping me going right now, tbh.

Bamford is a unique voice.

Viewed June 26, 2014. I don't think this is the best material I've ever heard from her, but as a performance, this is definitely the most unique and unforgettable stand-up special I've ever seen. Bamford's style is always off-kilter, but it's insanely uncomfortable here, which makes for fascinating viewing. Plus, the interview with her parents at the end shows that Maria's impression of her mother is stunningly spot-on.
