This series is odd because it's elevated by its cool stlyistic choices in the first two episodes but decides to use them less and less with each subsequent episode, which just made them visually boring. Regardless, I think it still has its strengths in conveying nice, wholesome family energy but any time they try to rework anything from the comic, all I could think was "the comic did this better". Especially with regards to the Muslim identity, which has no self-reflection as the comic did.

Alright show, maybe I'm too old for this type of content? It felt like the writing was disjointed, the characters had no set personality, always changed their mind, and half of the cast were throwaways that could just as well have been removed. I'm not even sure who the story's villain was. At least the cast was fine, the show had a unique style (though it underused it when it got dark), and representation in mainstream media is always a plus.

Things that will surprise you in 2022: Peace in the world, Lakers win and I fall in love with MCU series.. Damn... Things change so fast. To be honest, I liked WandaVision, mostly thanks to my admire to Elizabeth Olsen but still it was a good show. Moon Knight was a meh etc. I loved the feminist theme that Ms.Marvel had with a such an incredible family story which is so many young girls can relate to.. Usually cockroach men don't understand about women things but I hope things will change.

It's Marvel, so it has some charm. But the lead is not very likeable, the constant dumbing down of complex politics to push an agenda was frustrating, and I'm still not getting the super hero vibe from Ms Marvel. Her antics at the end of the film were just not believable. I did like the supporting cast a lot, though. Maybe as part of an ensemble it would work. I guess time will tell.

I liked it a lot. It's hard to believe this is Iman Vellani's first acting job. I also love the visual style. Another example of Marvel introducing a character properly. I'm looking forward to The Marvels.

A mixed bag. Early episodes have some interesting visuals and camerawork, and a nice grounded introduction to the title character. Iman Vellani is perfect for the role, and her friend group is enjoyable. Episodes 4 and 5 slow down the pacing a lot, and it loses focus. Episode 6 was a fine conclusion at least. It’s also pretty nice to see a positive depiction of Muslim characters for once.

Why are the Marvel products with good representation always pretty bad?

First 3 episodes were a standard, enjoyable MCU superhero story. Episode 4 in Pakistan everything kind of ground to a halt. Episode 5 was an ENTIRE episode about her GREAT-GRANDMOTHER??? Over-indulgent in the extreme. And episode 6 was back to superheroing. Very uneven.

The first 2 episodes were great, then it became another bland Marvel mess. The poorly structured plot and underdeveloped villains led to a rushed finale. Fortunately, Iman Vellani was perfect casting, so the performances do save the series from complete boredom.

It wasn't a bad show, but neither was it a great show. It felt like the show tried to stuff too much into it and that brought it down. Why we needed two sets of villains I'll never know. I think the Djinn would have been a great group of villains to center on for the whole show. The Damage Control angle didn't really make a lot of sense. I feel like they figure this out by the end and make it a rogue agent going ahead with things. It's a feel good show, but the story is a bit off.

All the girl power of Captain Marvel with relatable awkward teen angst humor. I'm excited for more episodes.

Really well cast, with some good performances. Narratively it stumbles over the finish line, and the nondescript uninteresting villains combined with a handful of underwhelming set pieces hold it back. Solid nevertheless.

The first two episodes were nothing short of a marvel. Bhimani has even more adorable Steinfeldesque mannerisms and the Partition background and Bollywood family dynamics work very nicely. Where it goes wrong is the typical plot followed after ep3 and the lack of depth in the antagonist arc(s). Like everything Marvel, this ends up in a big fight without any real stakes or even a decent reason how we got there. Wasted potential.

Me. Marvel is at it's best when dealing with its myriad of characters who are all interesting and fun to watch on screen. Too bad there's this whole superhero powers nonsense getting in the way. That's not to say the characters are all great. Few things get to develop and have a well developed payoff but you get the sense that this show would have been better with a longer run to give the characters more time to interact and cram in an origin story.

A fairly nice little departure from some of the more predictable series that Marvel has been churning out.

I think the show started fantastic, and I was really interested in the character. Unfortunately, I think the writers ran out of ideas and the rest of the season just wasn't as good as the way it started out. It's too bad, because I think there's a lot of cool potential with the character. I do look forward to The Marvels though.

loved her, the style, setting, music+how she was into it, school stuff, but then the villains and pakistan stuff slowly worsened it. if that didnt happen, and instead it was like a normal show length with more school+fam stuff, eventually ending with those villains and the flashback, it coulda been like 78-80+

good series. I enjoyed this one a lot because it had an amazing story. I also liked all of the powers you get to see.

As a Muslim myself it was interesting to see this portrayal of partition and the American Muslim community. It was alright; I think it shone when it went over the southeast Asian history. However, when it came to the present day and superhero plot, it faltered in the typical way that Marvel shows/movies too. Not a complete waste of time, but you could find easily better shows.

This wasn't as bad as I was lead to believe - it's wonderfully short and there are some interesting ideas. It's clearly for a much, much younger demo than me but that's ok. That said, some of it was a tad embarrassing and it did seem like a lot of the background was a cultural brochure rather than integral to the plot. Further demerits for going away from the comic character's powers and origin (the finding your grandmom's magic bracelet story is laaame).

Kamala was infectiously exuberant as the lead. She is, imo, the closest female counterpart to Spiderman. Both super heroes are in their teens, a bit awkward, but full of verve and adorable non-cynicism. I also like that not every superhero dilemma needs to be on the galactic scale. It just as precious to serve your family, community and your city. But... I loathe that this acts as the precursor for The Marvels movie disaster and thus some of the plot points are not resolved within the series.
