Strange show that's part theatrical play, part improv & part stand-up special all at the same time. The racist jokes were pretty unnecessary and brought it down a few points, and there was also a little too much niche humour that really relied upon a deep knowledge of NYC that only a local would have. But there were also moments of comedic genius: the interview with Steve Martin was delightful and the takedown of bad theatre cliches left me cackling.

too long, but John Mulaney may well be the funniest man on the planet

I watched this in two sitting and I think that helped with the length a bit. Either way, I loved it. It's not for everyone, but if you like these two comedians and these two characters... well... it's the only place you can see that.

While the prepared, written bits are certainly entertaining, it's the casual, carefree, improvisational looseness in which John Mulaney and Nick Kroll perform and play around with each other onstage that makes the comedy special really fun.

Quite excellent if you view this as a Broadway stage piece, which is as I'm reviewing it. I went in with expectations of just another stand-up special, and was pleasantly surprised with the production they had going on. IMO you should get familiar with these characters through Nick Kroll's 'Kroll Show' first to appreciate the character driven jokes. I wish John Mulaney had more confidence to get out there on screen as opposed to writing. He is a true comedic genius and vastly under-appreciated.
