You know you're watching a work by David Mamet as soon as the characters start speaking. His dialogue, or Mamet-speak, is instantly recognizable for its strange cadence and occasional vulgarity. He's been nominated for two Oscars -- for 1997's Wag the Dog and 1982's the Verdict.

Pacino definitely gives it his all but in all honesty, I just didn't care. It was too sensationalized and it desensitized me to anything that followed the actual circus that occurred. Points for effort but really, you wouldn't be missing much if you skipped it.

Limited by the constraints of television but does have a few scenes that are quite effective, even touching, and some reflections on the media, etc. It also throws in a few barbs against the Kennedys, apparently for no reason other than simply the pleasure of doing so. The portrayal of Linda Kenney Baden, and of her relationship to Spector, seems naïve, but then she was a consultant to the film. I read somewhere that her husband was paid $250,000 to give expert testimony that Clarkson suicided.

This literally goes nowhere and has absolutely nothing to say, it only serves as an opportunity for Mamet to capitalize on a real life eccentric to ramble on about disjointed things bouncing around in his head. The film ignores the basic fundamentals of storytelling (unless Pacino's hair counts as the climax) and only achieves boredom.

As is expected from Mamet, this contains highly enjoyable and confidently performed dialogue that wonderfully delivers this in-depth examination of the main man. My biggest problem with this movie is that it's too short -- I could've done with another 90 minutes of the rest of the story.

I thought the performances were good, the dialogue sharp, and the story interesting.

This was awful...boring, it didn't go anywhere, and all the interesting parts were in the 'what happened after' parts at the end. Waste of 90 minutes. Never really being a fan of David Mamet, but this is his usual style done to death.

What the hell happened to David Mamet anyway? Didn't he use to have talent? How the hell did he make this tedious, self-indulgent piece of crap about a nutty record producer who functions as a mouthpiece for all of Mamet's inane ranting and self adulating, egomaniacal grandiosity? I didn't even watch the whole thing, it was so sucky.
