A solid installment of a horror franchise that's generally light on the horror, but this one has some genuinely unsettling moments. It might not be outright frightening, but it keeps you guessing until it pulls a twist out of its ass that, with enough thought, you can eventually put the pieces together.

It's surprisingly good in some aspects and the thing I think that spoils it a bit is the length, as it feels a bit longer that it would fit. It's upsetting, not exactly scaring but it pulls the nerves, serving also some mistery that makes it nice trying to put pieces together as the result is not dissapointing, it fits, it makes sense. It's also beautifully and weirdly filmed.

Pooka! was interesting but it plateaued at a point and never really achieved the excitement I was hoping for. I do like the psychological aspects of Pooka! as a character. I even liked the way they tied a bow around the story at the end. It helped bring everything together but I didn't feel satisfied with the story. The acting was fair. As a Blumhouse production, the actors are sparse as are the sets. There were times when I think the man who played Wilson was losing his accent. It was just okay

Pretty lame because it can't quite sustain the suspense for too long and the nightmarish material lacks imagination and a proper atmosphere to deliver the thrills -- leading man also doesn't help much. That said, I like the Season of the Witch-esque trope -- a new toy that will make kids go crazy by saying what people says in a good or naughty way -- and the design is cool -- the costume and the some of the dreamy, delusional sequences.

Big effort to see the whole thing. I had to fast-forward the last twenty minutes. As the last Halloween movie I saw in 2019... epic fail.

Funny poster, but unfortunately what initially seems to be intriguing and pretty original little chiller from the director of 'Timecrimes' turns out too be rather weak and wildly derivative.
