So the question is, is it better? And the answer's an unequivocal yes: it IS better than Birdemic 2. Of course it should be, since unlike the very worst movies this is made by people who are able, but unwilling, to at least make a competent movie. The end result is a movie that's more entertaining than the dull Sharknado 1, but with the increase in budget and actor pool, they had to work hard to not accidentally make a decent movie. To their presumable pride, they pull it off.

Somehow, the only movie that loses none of its integrity after featuring Matt Lauer.

God damn it, I hate to say it but I could not help but actually liking this one somewhat. There's just so much going on, that is just so absolutely awful that it becomes almost good. From Sharks being projectiles, to Tara Reid losing a hand, to a rolling Statue of Liberty head that was blown off by lightning - all the way over to Manhattan........yes that actually happened. A guy throws 3 running chainsaws into a Tornado (Sharknado). I have nothing to add, just wanted to point that out.

The film played out as a wish-list of things they wanted to put into the sequel to satisfy the fans of the first and the bigger budget. It then proceeded to tick these boxes. And then it ended. It also had Judd Hirsch - known for playing the neurotic jewish father of Jeff Goldblum in Independence Day and a Taxi driver in Taxi as a neurotic jewish taxi driver. Great casting!

Still a silly and scattershot effort, but a definite improvement over Part 1; given the bargain basement level production values, its cameo list is semi-impressive, especially the fish-averse pilot in the opening scene! I think it’s safe to say at this point that this concept and series represents a bit of a missed opportunity, with the uncertain and wavering tone of the performances oscillating between serious and send-up making it difficult to appreciate the film as either fish (heh) or fowl.

I suggest playing the 'guess the number of botched facelifts' game if you get bored after a while, it really helps move things along.

Cameos aside, this movie is the wrong side of cheesy. Characters are awful and stupid with horroble acting (see Tara Reid). A strange story with terrible visuals and not much in terms of anything else. I hated the first one but this is just a bad... minus, Billy Ray, Al Roker, and Matt Lauer.

Does little else than recycles ideas from the first one. There's no fun in that.

Better than it has any right to be. Normally not even trying to make a good movie is an unforgivable sin, but there's just enough crazy inventiveness in the movie's inane setpieces to make it entertaining.

I think Sharknado is losing its c harm for me already. The first was a bit of fun but not as awesome as I would have liked... and this has a bigger budget and more cameos but it didn't do it for me even as much as the first. That could be just because the novelty is wearing off, or maybe it's just not as good. Or maybe this concept relies so heavily on the novelty that it's part of the quality. Yeah, probably that. Silly fun though, regardless.

"No, really, the second one is better!" my friend said. No. No it isn't. The movie's an excuse for a cute joke or two, but again, you can't make a movie from this. It just weighs down an attempt.

It's both better and worse than the first film. I give this one a slight edge for all the cameos.

I kind of liked the first one. It was utterly bad, but it gave me more laughs than a lot of these comedies nowadays. This "second one" is just utterly bad and that's it.

Bad acting, effects, plot, script.. but that's the point right? A good joke of a movie.

Tara Reid can no longer summon expressions to her face, let alone character depth to her acting. Lots of conveniences in the plot and timeline continuity issues from a story telling perspective. Definitely up a notch in prod value from the first. Probably one of the larger budgets the Asylum guys have got to work with. Still, a straight faced approach where there could be much more fun in the scenes.

Why do people pretend this shit is cool and funny? It just compels the syfy channel to make another stupid ass movie that is god awful. If Kurt freaking Angle isn't the main character of the next one than who gives a shit?

No, i'm not crazy. This one is done on purpose to be trashy fun, see the "jump the shark" scene. Everything is a parody of a bad copy of a B-Movie. Like Machete, with less director talent. I laughed out loud many times. It would be beautiful if the new-generation hollywood comedians have the genius to make a film like this. So bad it's so good.

Bonkers. Terrible. Badly acted. Actually the only complaint I have is they went too far to the actual plot side. Way too much character nonsense, not enough bizarre shark nonsense.

while i despised the first one for deliberately, methodically, and mirthlessly making a bad film, i actually found things to enjoy in this one. maybe it was the ludicrous amount of cameos and product placement. maybe it was because there was actually a lot of over the top moments that were genuinely humorous. i dunno, but i was able to stomach this one where the first one left me enraged. it DOES help IMMENSELY that tara reid was sidelined for most of the film. that must be it actually. wow.

Of course Matt Lauer and Al Roker are the best actors in the film. You can tell the makers got a huge ego after the success of the first one with almost as many cameos as there were sharks, and a ton of hints at other movies (Snakes on a plane and Star Wars). Still, the movie's full of hilarity and stupidity that B-Movie fans cannot help but love. It's safe to say that this series has yet to...jump the shark! (I'm sorry).

5 points for Tara Reid's performance in the first 10 minutes of the film, I mean where on earth does someone learn to act as painfully bad as that? 10 points for better production values and better cameos than the first one. This is still a fucking mess, though.

I wasn't expecting much, I didn't get much. The idea is great and they can't pull of a single good joke with it, it's tragic.
