Sleepy Hollow had a stellar 1st season that built upon established mythology, adhering to a dark tone with intermittent injections of humour and was well-paced. The cast was great, and used in the right amount. And then that season finished, and the show lingered on, slowly (and painfully) losing everything that used to be good about it.

Add it to the list of shows I tried to get into and couldn't. It's well made and the leads likable but it just seemed thin.

I genuinely did enjoy the first season, which had a well-paced apocalyptic ghost story in the Supernatural mould and good chemistry between Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie. Then season 2 got an expanded episode order and loaded things up with nonsense and dull side characters. Dropped out partway through; haven't come back. A shame.

After one seasons gets bad.

When you try to do a whole series (several seasons at that!) from a gimmicky idea (What if Ichabod Crane wakes up 200 years later), this is the end result. It might have been a great short film with a bit more thinking on the actual shock of 200 years of time-ump, but when you try to stretch it, it just breaks. The decors are great, those people's amazing work is wasted on this series. I stopped after a season, there is not much to look forward to.

Stopped watching after season 2.

I liked the first season, but it felt like this quickly lost the plot, and I eventually gave up on it before the series was over.

If they had stopped at the first couple of seasons, the rating would have been much higher. Sadly, like many series, at some point things started to go downhill and it never recovered, until it finally was mercy-killed at the end of the fourth season.

I tried to watch this, but at the end of the first episode, the headless horseman was wielding a shotgun -- which I think could be acceptable at that point, if he were trying to kill the screenwriters. Since that was not the case, I had to quit, never to give this crappy series an opportunity to redeem itself.

This is one of those shows that does not work on paper or in theory, but somehow becomes a hidden gem when put into practice.
