Yes the animation is hideous, and it lacks the deep themes and maturity of the live-action shows, but it's full of adventure and still has the iconic Enterprise crew doing what they do best. Kids and Trekkies will definitely get something out of it.

This shorter, animated format has the benefit of doing more fantastic things with alien designs/worlds while also displaying some of the worst animation you’ll see out of something with a mainstream blu-ray release. Not just poor animation - blatantly mismatched scenes & strange direction that gives so many scenes the most awkward of feels. Just watch Yesteryear and move along unless you’re dying to get every reference Lower Decks offers.

Solid continuation of the original series with the added benefit that they only had 25 minutes for a single story, so the pace is well faster than before. Recommended to everyone who liked the original, but I think it's also an excellent choice for children if you want to expose them to science fiction.

Most Star Trek of the Star Treks and less of the filler/BS episodes of TNG. Still has the Rodenberry jank, but that comes with the territory.

The only episode worth watching is "Yesteryear," which is a solid character exploration of Spock, his background and identity. The rest of the show is trash, though, with subpar voice-acting, generally poor writing and horrendous animation, and has very little value even for Trekkies. Watch that one good episode and skip the rest.

A few good plots, but the animation is just incredibly terrible.

The animation is shit, in a charming way, and the stories are fun.
