Summer of Fear

After checking out 1977's "The Spell" I figured I might as well give this one a shot. Wes Craven, Linda Blair... what the hell, right? So I got what I deserved.

Pretty much like an early The Love Witch for the 1970s era of purging social horrors. It takes maybe too much time to take off, but when it does (in the last 30min or so), it is great.

Decent but about 30 minutes too long.

Like a few TV Movies I've seen recently this one has more padding than should ever have been warranted. It does hit some things on the mark though in the build up. Linda Blair is likable and believably frustrated as everything she does to out the witch in their midst backfires. Nothing special here of note for Craven. I think Romero's Season of the Witch dealt with casual witchery in a more interesting way. I also like the Craft so what do I know. Sad to say my "of Fear" films only get worse.

A "soap opera-like" thriller with "mystical" horror-elements thrown into the corny melodrama. Pretty tasteless.
