The Purge

mediocre at best. the pilot is not catchy. why do i have a feeling that it is leftards (&other autistic clinton supporters) mad fantasy like handsmaid tale?

I liked the first Purge movie and the rest was just okay. Went into this tv-show with low expectations and was surprised too see that it was way better than the movies.

It offers us the same antics as far as the outdoor Purge scenes but the expanded format offers us a glimpse into the world that happens leading up to this night. Strong acting and a well paced narrative help this show come together nicely. The world of the Purge has a of potential and this series tapped into a little bit of that.

Even fucking-stupider and on-the-nose than the films, astonishingly bad.

Better than the movies. This series has a bit of a slow start, and some of the casting is better than others, but this is a brutal and thought-provoking show. Every episode of the first season is better than the one before it, and by the second half I could not wait to see what would happen next. For a show with zero star power and a somewhat limited budget, this is impressive stuff. For those who enjoyed the original film with Ethan Hawke, definitely check this out.

The first episode leaves you wanting more.

This might be the best setup for this universe. By no means it is great, but because of the long form, there are so many things you see about the purge. The second season especially starts very strong with a unique side that we had never seen before and tumbles as low as it goes high (so not much in either direction..)

I was pleasantly surprised, especially from the second season. Unlike the movies, the tv show really digs into the story. It gets more political, more emotional, more conspirative, more twists. Really elaborates on everything and perfects it. Also, I love all the intros. Honestly I still can't believe how much I enjoyed it, but I suppose after all the disappointment from the movies - this was a breath of fresh air.
