I'm not complaining about *a lot* of cult content, but Seduced was much better. It was kind of icky that The Vow focused on literally senior members of the cult and their POVs and even though their awakening was rough, it still feels like they had way more power than most of the people there and are shaping the narrative in an effed up way.

Incredibly interesting subject matter, but 9 hours?? It just draaaaaaaaaaaags (A second season to come??? COME ON!!!). Its sister-series "Seduced" is much better, more personal, explains the brainwashing more clearly and only 4 episodes.

The biggest issue is that they decided to do that as a more than one season, though I admit it never feels like they're stretching things out. There is an unfathomable amount of footage, which means you really get to see things first hand rather than just as-reported by the ex-members. I'm looking forward to getting to know more about Nancy.

After watching you will realize it was more than "a sex cult." A lot of content and it was rarely boring. Fascinating watching people go from devote members to opposition. In cults the "guru" is usually boring, and he is, but under him, Nancy Salzman is interesting. And while at the end I had some sympathy for her, I didn't forget that she was the president of an MLM that pushed toxic positivity, the idea that any negative emotion even from abuse is your fault. Toxic teaching that fostered abuse
