The Wizard of Lies

must be nice to have money you're able to invest and lose

michelle pfeiffer chose the wrong guy again

Offers surprisingly little insight into the scheme and doesn't help shed much truth on who knew what but it's an interesting movie due to a very interesting event. DeNiro seems a bit uninterested in the role and the whole movie tries to do too many things in a too mild way. Would love to see more.

79 (Me) - 68 (IMDB)

Having read the source book (whose author plays herself here) it seems there was no satisfactory way to portray the progression/mechanics of the scheme, not least because everything intriguing therein would've been actionable if meaningfully dramatized (or in the case of the good widow Picower, not conducive to PR). But I like it as a tale of two (or three) (attempted) suicides: one memorably comic, the other going to show that if one thing can make an innocent end it, it's the internet.

68.2.

ger; [The Wizard of Lies]; die biographie von madoff's pyramidensystem und seinen auswirkungen, welches milliarden von dollar verschwinden lies.; (leicht depressiv);

Entertainment 5/4 -- great acting, directing, one of the most engaging movies I've seen, in part because of its historic value. Sprit: 1/3. Sustainability: 1/3.

there are some inspired scenes but I'm not sure who this was made for or why. if you want to learn about the logistics of what Madoff did then go read this movie's apparent source material, which can be found by searching "Madoff investment scandal" on Wikipedia.com
