Very much aware of its own cheese, 'True Blood' revels in an aesthetic of camp that celebrates flamboyancy and self-expression through laughably stupid narrative arcs and hammy performances, yet still possessing flair for genuinely great comedic timing. The lack of major narrative shifts or surprises results in awful wet farts of cliffhangers that amount to little. Still, while it's bad, I think it knows it is--and that's OK. Just laugh with it because it's kind of awesome.

For all its many faults (season 4 is a tv history all time low but there’s loads more problems) TB is a unique little place stacked with southern lore, that really exists in the mind off screen. It’s easy to forgive it because there are so many elements and characters that truly work making it such an addictive show. S7 helped my overall mood: all the fantasy crap mutants fucked off and it’s just vampires and their integration in the world, which was always the most interesting concept of TB

Silly, often bad, but fun. Anna Paquin is amazing, and there's no beating HBO's production values. Sadly the writing quality drops sharply after the first season.

There are parts of this show I hated, but it makes up for most of them. Paquin as Sookie is perfect, and it's better than the book series.

True Blood walks a thin line between a vampire tv show and straight up softcore porn. But I shouldn't be surprised, considering HBO is to sex like a moth is to a flame. Other than that, the show is decent. As most vampire and supernatural series focus enterely on teenagers and watered down versions of magical creatures, True Blood is definitely welcomed. The first season had a strong crime vibe, I wish it stayed throughout the series. The end was unfitting and rushed, but still good enough.

The series started off strong, and stayed that way for quite some time. Good actors, solid drama and romance, but unfortunately the last couple seasons lose focus and it ends in an unsatisfying way/.

Sometimes Interesting take on a "adult" vampire series but to focused on the romance than the mixing of various "races"

True Blood certainly faded after Alan Ball's departure. Not to mention the inconsistent tone and overt sexuality of the entire series will put many viewers off. However for those in need of an adult oriented take on the vampire romance genre, the show works just fine. It rises high above its own standards whenever the writers decide to delve into the social and political repercussions of "coming out of the coffin."

Started well but standards drop around 3rd or 4th season and it's downhill from there.

The second season was so bad that I was surprised it ever went on. The quality of season varies. The characters like Lafayette, Eric Northman and Russell Edgington were the salt of the gang. The series mostly entertained me a lot.

So much fun. Not as nearly as much in the last few seasons as in the beginning, but nevertheless dozens of quotable laugh-out-loud, over-the-top moments. Had a surprisingly emotionally charged final? too; a good ending to a terrible season.

I really thought this show had potential based on the premise and the fact that it was on HBO. It wasn't as terrible as it probably could have been, but its greatest accomplishment was simply being slightly better than its contemporary vampire shows and movies.

Seasons 1-4 were pretty solid, and then it quickly devolved into a mess from there where it often contradicted its own characterization and mythology. Watch it for the camp and some great characters (i.e. Lafayette, Pam, Eric).

If you can absolutely detach your brain there is some real cheesy entertainment here, especially from Lafayette and Eric Northman.
