Passable as a document about its director in a specific place and time, but not much insight about Tarkovsky's creative process or his view on film can be found here.

If you are a big fan of the director you'd most likely get more out of this than I did.

A few interesting moments and that's all.

This feels like an afterthought or a side-project. Tarkovsky's style adds nothing but obfuscation here, so it works as neither a documentary nor a Tarkovsky film. It's a valuable record of certain moments, but it's a mess of a film.

Andrei Tarkovsky #3

Tarkovsky's genius is fascinating, yet for those times it is graspable, ultimately disappointing.

There's really just not enough of anything to engage me here. Any of the poetic imagery is done better in any other Tarkovsky flick, and the conversations are actually pretty basic compared to other resources on the guy. If I learned one thing, though, it's that Andrei Arsenievich is all about the denim.

tarkovsky is mesmerizing to watch and listen to. I dont necessarily agree with what he is saying, though.
