Heath Ledger's performance is gripping in this film. He takes the role of the villain to a whole other level. I found myself rooting for the villain at times. It is a very dark film that has some flaws but is near perfect. Bale's gruffy voice is a bit annoying at times and the action sequences seem rushed. I believe Harvey Dent was killed off a little too soon, but Eckhart's performance as Dent was great.

Heath Ledger looms of Gotham City as the Joker in a marvelous and most definitely eerie performance. The movie is action packed however could have been about 15 or 20 minutes shorter. The Dark Knight is a must see even if you would normally not watch something of its kind.

Many Marvel comic films have been produced before The Dark Knight, however none can compare with the pure perfection of this film. The sequel to the Batman follows Bruce Wayne through his vigilante role in Gotham City. Christian Bale plays billionaire Bruce Wayne, and his alter ego Batman. The notorious Joker created disorder and terror. Heath Ledger possibly produced the best villain in any movie ever shot. The movie was an excellent film that captures the long time "Good vs. Evil."

Holy smokes! There have only been a few movies that I wanted to immediately watch again as soon as they were over and this was one of them. Even after sitting through it for 2.5 hours, I still wanted to watch it again right after. Every scene that the Joker was in was amazing. Hilarious, sad, scary... "six?" Oh man. I really hope this was it for the Batman series as anything after this could only be a colossal disappointment. Wow.

It always amazed me how overrated this movie had become. Having first saw it in the theater while on a trip to Kentucky I accepted it as a good popcorn flick, but did not think so highly of it as others have come to. There is nothing really special about this movie, the story is decent but everything else is bland and boring save for the amazing acting.

Christian Bale does a great job as Batman, but the truly great performance in this film is by Heath Ledger. I'm not saying that because he died. It's tragic that we lost such a great talent so young. I have always thought he was very underrated. The combination of Bale and Ledger made this film amazing. I grew up reading Batman comics, and this was not disappointing at all.

Obviously, Heath Ledger is amazing, but there are so many other things about this that are great. It has one of the greatest opening scenes, an awesome score, and an unpredictable story. Some of the best moments are the Joker's stories of how he got his scars.

Best Batman ever. Someone finally grasped the mentality of the Joker. His crimes were more thought out, deadly, and more symbolic than in the past Batman movies. Only reason this movie gets one pt deducted is because of the change between leading actress. Im wasn't a big fan of whats her face.

This was an expertly written, directed, and acted action opus. Heath Ledger's final performance as The Joker is dark, wickedly entertaining, and even mysterious. The film is really dark, just as this chapter in the series should be. Christian Bale is tops as the troubled Bruce Wayne/Batman, Maggie Gyllenhaal fills the role of Rachel Dawes nicely (better than Katie Holmes did), and Aaron Eckhart's D.A. Harvey Dent/Two-Face is of the best in cinema history, beating out Tommy Lee Jones' version.

This film is a non-stop thrill ride that warrants multiple viewings not just because you'll catch a few extra things but mainly due to it being a sheer masterpiece. Christopher Nolan has crafted a film with an impeccable balance of highs and lows and action and inaction and bolsters a wide spectrum of emotions. Batman Begins set a solid tone with solid characters and TDK just ran with it and took it to unexplored heights. Notable mention goes to the late Heath Ledger as the Joker.

If I could give this movie a score higher than 100, I would. TDK starts off at breakneck pace, and just when you think it cannot escalate any higher, it does, and it keeps upping the ante over and over again. I loved it, and it's a miracle in movie making (especially in the much derided "comic book movie" sub genre) , but I was physically tired at the end of this film. I think that Heath Ledger's death caused more people to see this film than would otherwise, but he delivers, oh does he ever.

One of the best Batman movies I have seen ever! I thought it was going to be dumb considering the crowd loves a good super hero movie because it's just awesome no matter how you look at it. Not the case this time, the hype is true in this, and it's all thanks to Heath Ledger who makes a fantastic Joker. If any movies were to make a vilain in the future, they would have to act just how Heath Ledger fit Joker's personality. Outstanding!

While this film is still very enjoyable and has great performances by all of its actors I do not see it standing the test of time. In the end it is nothing more than a neatly packaged action flic lacking the mystery of Nolan's other films, where character development has been replaced by high speed chases and exaggerated explosions.

Great cast, with one of the best, most disturbingly evil and twisted villain. Keeps you on your toes, and requires you're attention at all time with the speed of the plot. The best of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. It takes its premise entirely seriously and would work as a crime thriller even without the dominant central performance of Heath Ledger, but Ledger elevates it into something more. His take on the Joker - so startling that it made Michael Caine forget his lines the first time he saw Ledger in character - was conceived as an absolute, a force of nature, and asks moral questions not only of Batman but of every character in the film.

Possibly as close to filmmaking and writing perfection as one can get, Heath Ledger is hauntingly good but Christian Bale & Aaron Eckhart more than hold their own while being accompanied by a talented cast of other actors. This movie not only builds on the first but finds a fresh & memorable way of pitting Batman and the Joker against each other. There is so much more going on, however, that the story manages to transcend the world of comics and create a mirror of our modern world in stark ways.

Great film, certainly establishes Nolan as more than a one-shot wonder with Memento. Ledger's performance is sick! The first hour is pretty lame, but it works well with the intention of juxtaposing with the latter half (to make the ending seem that much better).

Brilliant duel between the hero and the villain. Unlike other films which have both trading blows like cavemen, the two actually plots and play tricks on each other. Some truly outstanding moment which makes you wonder what is going to happen next: are they going to betray him, etc. It's not simply Batman vs Joker, it's actually an all-out battle between order vs chaos. On most part, it seems like order won out. Or did it?

I think it's fine, but not my favorite. I don't like the boring and overlong first act, the main mob boss villain, the China segment, Bale's dull acting, Maggie Gyllenhaal's acting, the writing for Rachel Dawe's now terrible character, the Scarecrow's unnecessary cameo, and Batman's obnoxious voice. But the Joker and the action are both excellent.

Past all the spectacle and the overdone love affair, much of The Dark Knight is surprisingly self-explanatory. The Joker was undeniably a great villain, unique as such, but he was under such a pretentious atmosphere and great pressure to work in it, that he ends up explaining himself too often. If he's an agent of chaos, why doesn't he just act rather than talk? It's the same with the other actors. Superb acting from all of them, but maybe it wasn't such a great script.

2 Criticisms: Batman's voice was a little overdone, and Maggie Gyllenhall was miscast. I don't think she looked the part of Billionaire Bruce Wayne's main squeeze, and didn't quite act like it either. Ledger/Bale/Oldman's performances more than make up for it. As far as I can tell, Christopher Nolan doesnt have it in him to direct bad movies...
