The most emotionally shallow entry in the Disney Renaissance, and an ominous sign of things to come in animation (celebrity voices, constant pop culture references, hyperactive pacing). Still, the humor (while dated - Arsenio who?) works more often than not, and the songs are pretty catchy.

A street rat falls in love with a princess and becomes friends with a genie; throw in a magic carpet, an evil villain, and some Disney magic in the land of Agrabah, this movie can be enjoyed by viewers of all ages. Aladdin with a decent plot full of humor for adults, action/adventure for boys, and the romance for girls. This is a must see movie for everyone that wishes for an adventure or a little magic in their lives

One of the worst closed captioning movies of all time. Half of the captions would have to read: Silly voice. Sillier voice. Stupid voice. Annoying voice.

The pacing is a little too quick, it has some out of place pop culture references, and I can see how some of the narrative choices can be seen as problematic. But on the whole it works really well. The humour integrates effectively into the story; Pretty constant throughout thanks to the Genie and Jafar/Iago but it never overwhelms the heart of the film, instead providing a balance to the tone of the film. The songs are fun, and pretty varied, and the story works quite well.

I wasn't impressed with Scott Weinger but both Robin Williams and Gilbert Gottfried were fantastic. The animation was quite impressive and there are plenty of laughs for both kids and adults alike. However I'm not a fan of sing-alongs so most Disney animated movies, barring Pixar and Emperor's New Groove, aren't my thing. Still I found this enjoyable so even if you're like me and don't like sing-alongs still give this movie a watch.

The early 90's were a great time for Disney, and Aladdin is one of my personally favorite animated features, It has a fun story with beautiful animation and incredible voice acting, especially in the case of Robin Williams. Awesome!

(2014-15 Disneython #25:) Classic. Robin Williams' Genie eventually led us down the path to the unfortunate pop culture-infused orgy of Shrek films, but back in the day he was hilarious. Jafar is a sneering, vile villain, Aladdin an endearing hero, and that carpet escape from the lava-flooding cave was heart-pounding excitement as a kid. Pure Saturday morning cartoon goodness, smoothly expanded to feature length. Easily one of my all-time favorite Disney films.

While the world is handled about as well as you could expect from an early-90s film set in the Middle East, rewatching this after nearly 30 years gave me that sweet hit of nostalgia I had been craving. As a kid, I watched all of the Genie's impressions not understanding what a Groucho Marx was.

Apart from the objection that a voice as familiar as Williams's will inevitably overpower and upstage an animated figure (just as Gottfried's overpowers and upstages the pet parrot called Iago), why would we want our Ancient Arab to be doing impressions of the likes of Jack Nicholson, Rodney Dangerfield, Arsenio Hall, Ed Sullivan, and William F. Buckley? This ensures only that the movie will date much faster than those we might agree to call the "timeless classics" in the Disney library.

Most of my generation have a huge inexplicable crush on The Lion King, but (even though I saw Aladdin almost 20 years ago), I think I would pick this as a favourite Disney. You have a handsome hero (you can't have a crush on a f-ing lion!), a beautiful heroine (makes a better Barbie doll, than a lioness) and animals are adorable/funny sidekicks as they should be. Great villain, classic story that works. Gotta love Genie.

A young me was at one time very attracted to the beautiful Princess Jasmine. I'd sit on the rug in our living room and hold a stuffed animal pretending that I was taking this beautiful girl on a magical ride across the world. Then one day my mom was baby sitting a neighbors daughter who was about my age. I invited her to a magic carpet ride to which I was informed that I was to fat and awkward to be Aladdin. Fuck you Disney.

Still one of my all-time favorite Disney movies today. I also love 2D animated movies so that added to the experience a bit. Williams is obviously a highlight as Genie (who is freakin hilarious) and the music is insanely catchy and well done. It even has a simple but good message at the core: Just be honest and be yourself. All in all one of Disney's best movies.

A highly entertaining entry in Disney's "second golden age," Aladdin is beautifully drawn, with near-classic songs and a cast of scene-stealing characters.

The romance plot is a little off (Jasmine obviously liked him as a pauper, so why was he such a haughty prince-especially after she showed her distaste? Well, a magic carpet ride will solve everything), but the two are sympathetic at least (see Aladdin's fun opening song and Jasmine's "well maybe I don't want to be a princess!"). Elsewhere, the excellent villain, the hilarious Genie, and intriguing magical underpinnings help create a twisty, exciting adventure punctuated by great humour.

Disney at its best -- one of the great "new classics". The songs are fun, the animation is glorious, glowing, colorful, and magical, Abu and the Genie are hilarious, and Aladdin and Jasmine are both really hot. And Jafar is an excellent villainous creation, even if I do get tired of evil queers.

(2nd viewing) Painfully disappointing, only kids will enjoy the 90's disney films. The first act is incredibly charming, but then the clichés and embarrassing moments pile up, such as intentional anachronisms and a truly cheesy ending. Also, Jessica Rabbit > Jasmine.

Aladdin is a totally kids' movie with nice animation, simple plot, flat characters (I hated that parrot with passion) and silly jokes. As Disney's animated movies go, it is average, but since I never saw it as a kid, it holds no sentimentality factor, and watching it now felt like a waste of time.

'One Thousand and One Night' is thrown into the Disney grinder, with a polished, toothless childrens fare coming out the other end. Twenty years of Cartoon Network making use of the same timing and physical gags, makes 'Aladdin' look more clichéd than it probably deserves. But it's hard to forgive that Disney once again deployed the 'be yourself' morale unto a source material, that is much more complex and infinitely more interesting.

I must have watched this at least a dozen times growing up, so my score is super biased. Still, I wouldn't have been so engrossed unless it had some merit. It's funny, entertaining, and full of personality. The characters are memorable and the soundtrack is fantastic! And I was surprised to find the other day that still I remembered the lyrics to a bunch of songs after all these years. One of Disney's best!

Aladdin is without a doubt one of my all time favourite Disney films. During the early 90's Disney where at the peak of their second golden age. And this film was released in between fellow classics 'Beauty & The Beast' & 'The Lion King' respectively. The animation is superb, the songs are unforgettable, the characters are loveable and the humour caters for all the family. However it's the voice work of comic genius Robin Williams that's steals the show. Sentimental, nostalgic & classic Disney.

An incredible achievement out of the Disney Animated canon, Aladdin explores issues of identity, autonomy, and social hierarchy with memorable characters, iconic musical numbers, and energetic voice acting performances. Aladdin also represents one of Disney's first forays into CGI that, while unfortunately dating the film visually, adds context to how much effort was put into giving the story a grander scope. While the CGI effects and references are dated, the heart of Aladdin is timeless.

Robin Williams is a ton of fun and there is some genuinely good music here. I'm racking my brain trying to remember if there is a better "modern" Disney animated film but I'm having trouble coming up with something that is better than this.
