Area 51

It took 51 minutes for them to get to the base but only 6 for me to hate this.

Dull, dumb, and not worth your time. Oren Peli proves to be a one-hit wonder with his second found-footage movie -- this one being almost worthless. The first hour is so bad that it's unlikely most people will even make it to the final 30 minutes, which is the only point at which it almost becomes watchable.

Pretty lame and generic and stupid in all of the found-footage standards and tropes we are all used to -- night vision shaky cam, nocturnal wanderings that lead to nowhere, no actual clean, clear footage of the menace, people whispering like they are shouting, bad geographical organization of space and action (guys, please learn something about amateurish establishing shots with Shya's The Visit). BUT... somehow I kept watching because why not? It's made for horror completists.

Not a lot of effective security at these facilities.

one of the most intense movies i've ever seen. Amazing what a big budget lets you do with found footage. An absolute blast 8/10 . Highly recommended for found footage/ paranormal activity, and sci fi fans!

Very reminiscent of a do you believe type of show, has a few interesting concepts, but not a very well made film.

I thought this was OK, actually...

It begins on a high note, then turns into a rambling, disastrous mess.

Actual scares are few and far between. This movie is 85 minutes of introducing a whole bunch of different plot elements, followed by a 10 minute ending that explains or wraps up precisely none of them.

There were a few promising scenes near the end, but also many brief glimpses of something vague. The cave, and everything in it, was stupid. Boring first half, and then far too much running around with a shaky hand camera & tedious repetitive dialog. The director couldn't resist setting up shots that could not have been found. Unfortunately, the good and interesting parts are overshadowed by the bad and boring parts.

For a 'found footage' film I wasn't too negative at the start, but once they get to Area 51 (2015), which is the climax of the whole thing, I lost interest.

Ineffective due to slavish conformity, especially to the insufferable "found footage" dogma and its staples, the photography instruction "shake the camera a lot" and the dialogue line "we gotta get out of here". I remember when Oren Peli actually seemed like a promise, and this movie was announced. I waited years for this. What a dud.

Steaming hot pile of garbage. This movie is everything you hate about found footage films, and has absolutely none of the good bits.

What a stinking mess of a waste of time and money

It really does give off the vibe of a bunch of frat-boy buddies farting around with a rented video camera over the weekend. Just atrocious, with distractingly, teeth-gnashingly awful acting and slapdash writing. Looks like they spent about twenty bucks on the thing, and the camera pitches and lurches pretty much nonstop (the goddamn thing made my wife nauseous). Don't even bother with it.
