Ruth Wilson makes this worth watching. Thick accents, unusual dialog and unfamiliar slang makes this nearly impossible to understand without subtitles. Hauntingly good music and excellent production quality. As the story unfolds, current events are heavily entangled with a tragic past. Unfortunately, many of the cut scenes are confusing or cryptic. It examines the fallout of a fathers sins. A sad cautionary story if you are able to wait for it.

Stunning cinematography and two incredibly strong performances bring intensity to this dark drama about the legacy of abuse.

Sister-brother kavgası da can sıkıyor. Filmin sonunda, bro hapse düşüyor. Ali babanın çiftliği var. Çiftliğinde koyunları var.

Frustrating family drama has the pieces in place to be much more satisfying - moody, evocative photography (the landscape shots are breathtaking) and fine, at times painful performances from Wilson and Stanley (Bean is essentially reduced to a silent performance). Unfortunately the specifics of this dysfunctional family's problems are never really examined or made clear, making it hard to become invested in the drama, and making the second half a tough, difficult watch.

Oh yes, the broiling grey clouds, a rat in the corridor, an injured sheep, bleak Yorkshire landscapes, a run down farm; you could tell you were in for a fun roller coaster with this one! Sure it was moody and gritty, but it didnt really hang true. How the hell did the brother make a living? Why did Alice think she could come back to all those memories and make it work? Its not the main story arc that's at fault here, its the writing and direction; the story needs believability in order to work

Ruth Wilson usually delivers, and here she's almost convincing enough as the prodigal sheep-shearer returning to save the family's farm from her psycho brother. The film looks moody and gritty, which fits with its dark themes. But the characters are somewhat stereotypical and shallow, breaking the spell of realism which Barnard must have hoped to carry over from her previous hit, The Selfish Giant. A kind of farm-noir which lacks the emotional heart of last year's similar-set God's Own Country.

"17.02.2018 &Demet @Nişantaşı City's, !f İstanbul Bağımsız Filmler Festivali" Ruth Wilson'ın kötü oyunculuğu, kurgudaki sorunlar, anlamsız yakın çekimler ve senaryonun zayıflığı rahatsız etti. Filme dair tek güzel şey çekimin yapıldığı doğa. Yönetmenin filmi bu şekilde kotaracağını düşündüğüne eminim.
