Ophelia

It was aesthetically pleasing, the movie was so lovely to look at, and Daisy Ridley was beautiful. Unfortunately, the story was disjointed, the lines were bad, and the ending was like a high school play.

I was sitting in a room where someone watched this flick and barely looked at the screen. Nevertheless, it was enough to rate it 0.

the hair, the clothes; delicious. it was a visually yummy movie. I liked how they filled out Ophelia's character, both in how and its result.

Suffers from a lack of focus and style. There are few odd scenes played stagelike and otherwise it is a pretty straightforward period drama. Poor build between Ophelia and Hamlet. I felt more chemistry between Ophelia and the true MVP of the movie, Horatio. Second to last montage scene is very dope, ruined by the very last scene that robs the ending of ballsy gravitas.

I watched this because I've been on a Hamlet kick lately, but it was mostly disappointing. It has a very good cast and it looks good, but for the most part it's neither a particular good adaptation nor an interesting enough reinterpretation. I did enjoy the closing throne room scene though.
