The Bat People

I kinda liked Doctor Mellow Ski-bum.

Typical person transforming in to bat horror movie except with all the content mechanically sucked out. The skiing moustachioed doctor is an amazing character though.

A completely unlikable doctor becomes a were-bat, but not in a cool transforming werewolf kinda way. More in a hairless convulsing in a corner kinda way. Script doesn't know what it wants to be with characters interchanging motivations like a baton on improve night. Halfway through the wife goes from trying to convince everyone that's something wrong to trying to convince everyone that nothing's wrong. Aggravating with not much to recommend. [MST3k relentlessly mocks the bat lead deservedly.]

In which this Bradford Dillman guy gets bitten, gets epilepsy, meets a drunk, treats his wife like guano and then converts her to his cause. Also featuring McCloud and Dan Gladden. Great MST line: "It's the Grinch's-dog tree." lol Btw Bat Guy's makeup in the last few minutes makes you realize why they never showed his transformation earlier (he looks like a monkey with Spock ears).

Not bad for low-budget schlock.

Not quite as bad as some say, though the makeup for the bat-man is terrible. Never will you have seen so many close-ups of flailing bats. Those with chiroptophobia should definitely avoid.

This has a bland TV movie look to it, and really no suspense. On the plus side, there's a lengthy car chase and a swarm-of-killer-bats finale that comes out of nowhere, but is at least cool. I can't pretend that this is anything like a good movie, but it managed to keep me oddly entertained. The title is a lie. There's only the one bat person.
