Oddly unsatisfying thriller/character study is far too slowly paced and drawn out to be an effective thriller, and as a character study it remains coldly inaccessible because we are never given insight into Wilson's unpleasant lead character, outside of a few droning passages of narration. A terrific cast keeps attempting to spark some life to the film, and Wilson is especially effective (and skin crawling) using his ingratiating "surfer dude" persona to quite chilling effect.

This flick is made well enough, my biggest problem is it is not the right role for Wilson, I just couldn't buy into his role with his fucking sing-songy talking he so often does.

Nothing to the film. I like Owen Wilson, but just couldn't like this film.

Boring. The best part was the secret compartment in his truck. Woo-o.

This is the movie that made me love Owen Wilson. I was under the false impression that I didn't care for his acting at all until I watched this one. If you want to root for the bad guy, or maybe there isn't such a thing as a bad guy, I dunno. You really feel for every character in this movie, bad or good.

Overlooked little gem from the man who nearly wrote Blade Runner. Owen Wilson does a great job as a drifter who kills people, he considers to have miserable lives. Very small in scope and story, yet still an interesting take on a serial killer flick.

Owen Wilson, deserves kudos for this role, i had no idea he would be able to pull of a serious role, but he really suprised me in this movie. The Minus Man is a very special film. It shows how subtlety can be more deeply disturbing and effective in telling a story about a serial killer that enters a small town and changes the lives of those who are drawn to him. This is a brillant film of Hampton Fancher. A very human story that doesn't need buckets of blood or a killer chasing everyone around.

Probably the only time Owen Wilson has deviated from comedy or quasi-comedy and I bought it, which says something, but the pacing of this movie is a killer. Depending on your tastes, this might be worth multiple views, or none at all.

What i don't understand about this picture is the ad copy telling me "conversation usually follows." Well, not anymore than any other movie lately, if anything, the slow pace & direct story make for less conversation. I've always liked Owen & here is no exception. His simplistic openness adds an unreal edge to the picture that makes the odd scenes all the more reasonable. Interesting & unusual.
