Gordon-Levitt refuses to hit a false note but there's no saving this rather pointless movie.

(TIFF 08'): Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one talented actor, there's no denying it. Prior to entering the theater, I had no idea what the film was about, probably the reason why I really liked this film. The opening scene sets up the film, one that cares little about plot (and I don't think you're supposed to either). I was more interested in its take on moral compromise. In the end it felt like watching a student film, but for sheer experimental value, it's one I can't wait to see again.

Interesting idea and solid acting, but ultimately too scattershot, unfocused and sloppily written for its own good.

It's a very interesting and intriguing concept, however it seemingly fails to extend that idea into an engaging feature length film.

Great acting, nice directing, and a interesting idea can't save the boring plot-lines. It's like they couldn't think of a good enough story so they combined two decent ones together to make a movie that would be a complete failure other than the aforementioned details. JGL is still a standout.

Reasonably entertaining, but less than the sum of its parts. The split timeline can be a fun concept and the individual stories could make for decent features on their own, but none of those three core aspects mesh together. The thematic connections feel forced and the constant shifting undermines the drama and tension of both stories.

Nice concept, great acting and solid directing. Too bad the actual stories were quite boring and very poorly connected.

i really wanted to like this movie, but it simply felt too bland. it was a good idea in the beginning, and the direction was pretty nice. it was just missing something, cant quite put my finger on it.
