Favourite animated films

Post by MmzHrrdb »

I searched using a variety of keywords for existing threads on one's favourite animated films but no results showed up. If there is a thread that has bypassed my search then please inform me.

A few years ago when I didn't even like movies I was a huge fan of animation. It was the only thing that I would ever watch. Eventually I discovered more movies and slowly became the fanatic I am today and sadly haven't been too fond of many animated films since, although recently I've had a resurgence of interest, especially old animated shorts. The following is a list of all the animated films in my Tier 10.

1. “The Lion King” (1994) (dir: Rob Minkoff & Roger Allers) 100 Top 10 #4
2. “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves” (1937) (dir: David Hand) 100
3. “Lady and the Tramp” (1955) (dir: Clyde Geronimi, Wilfred Jackson & Hamilton Luske) 100
4. “Dimensions of Dialogue” (1983) (dir: Jan Svankmajer) 100
5. “Dumbland” (2002) (dir: David Lynch) 100
6. “The Little Mermaid” (1989) (dir: Ron Clements & John Musker) 99
7. “Toy Story 2” (1999) (dir: John Lasseter & Ash Brannon) 99
8. “Father and Daughter” (2000) (dir: Michael Dudok de Wit) 98
9. “The Lion King II: Simba's Pride” (1998) (dir: Darrell Rooney & Rob LaDuca) 98
10. “Fresh Hare” (1942) (dir: Friz Freleng) 98

disregarding my ratings the only ones i want to mention are 5 centimeters per second, blood: the last vampire, and final fantasy: the spirit within; only because they aren't disney or the conventional type of kiddie animated movies. oh, i really like billy and mandy movies...as you can see because i'm the only person to submit the to the site, i also like the only hellboy movie i've seen, and the batman Vs. dracula one could have been AWESOME, as i am old enough to remember reruns of the original show, and old enough to remeber the bram stoker's draclua movie.

The Amazing Screw-On Head needs to be mentioned. That film is incredible.

Export list

I probably prefer Only Yesterday to SA and Fireflies. I find all three difficult to rate. The Man Who Planted Trees is bound to end up in the 90s at some point. I haven't seen Akira since I was about 11. I enjoyed it at the time. TLK, 6/7.

I see some are missing. Nocturna Artificialia should be on there. I love that.

Although not my favorite animated film, I feel "Les Triplettes de Belleville" (Sylvain Chomet) is an outstanding film. One of those films that feels and looks different (in a good way). If you liked that one, check out "The Old Lady and the Pigeons", from Chomet aswell (this is a short film though)

And when it comes to short films, I recently saw "The Mascot" (1934), and I was truly amazed (you can find it on youtube)

and of course my favorite short film: "Father and Daughter" which you can find here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb-0Py80cMY

Never seen a film that moved me in just 7 min time...

peace
