The last scene makes you question what you just watched, but it doesn't change that it was a chore to watch it. Is it a joke? I have no idea but I didn't like it, regardless.

Entertaining enough but I certainly wouldn't class it as a comedy. Let down by the worst, most cringe-worthy ending I have ever seen in a film.

Supposedly, Ferrell and Wiig wanted to keep their involvement in this film a secret until its airing. I can understand why. The film is funny because of their involvement, but that hilarity comes in smaller and smaller waves as the film progresses. Hey, comedy is one of the most difficult things to assess, because it either clicks for you or it doesn't. This film sorta kinda clicked for me.

It did capture some of that feeling through the direction but over all seemed more celebration than -the intended- satire. By 'doing' 'telemovie acting' they robbed it of bite, only wiig seemed to understand this and played it suitably straight. [fd]

A lifetime movie starring Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig is basically must see TV for me. You can't really tell if it's tongue in cheek or not till the end which is just a glorious ending that made me laugh really hard. Has some classic Lifetime tropes: plot twist that makes no sense, a stupid child, a climax that makes less sense than the rest of the film, etc.

Wait what?! Will Ferrell in a Lifetime TV drama/thriller? What's wrong with that idea? Who does he think he is? Robin Williams, only putting on a beard and one will take his acting serious?!! Hell NO, not with that goofy face! But I guess that's the in-joke. Watching the comic fool Ferrell, along with Kristen Wiig, play it straight in an absolute TV standard.
