Ahsoka

Written by people playing with action figures rather than actual writers, as evidenced by none of the characters changing their outfit at any point regardless of circumstance. Awful, just awful dialogue. All of the characters are colossal morons. All of the events are made entirely irrelevant by the movies. The fighting isn't even that good. I do not understand what people are enjoying about this.

The writing is barely better than the other mandoverse projects. However, the characters and story are a bit more compelling, the score is great, and there are multiple aliens and droids as main characters! Wow the bar is so low for Star Wars these days... But I do like this one.

It's always a bad sign when you're rooting for the villains.

Way better than every other Star Wars show besides Andor.

Before this life-action adaptation, Ahsoka was my favorite Star Wars character. And this is coming from a guy who grew up on the original trilogy and skipped a day of high school to camp out for tickets for Phantom Menace. I loved animated Ahsoka, and I think that Dawson does a fair portrayal. But the writing here is really weak. I didn't like the forcing the force down your throat, or the weird girl power thing. Ray Stevenson was great, though. Which is depressing.

Being such a fan of the character from Clone Wars, this felt extremely distant from the Ahsoka I knew. The whole feels messy, somehow lacks urgency and doesn't really do justice to any of the characters.

So many reused plot points, so many plot holes, and stupid moments. But the first thing I noticed was how cheap everything looked,d especially the costumes and makeup effects.

The series shines whenever it explores Ahsoka Tano's relationship with Anakin Skywalker. Adding meaningful depth to a character audiences already know well, but we've already seen that. Outside of those moments, the story struggles to stay engaging. The supporting cast never develops enough to carry the slower episodes, leaving the series overly dependent on familiar faces. It needed stronger new characters to make the journey feel worthwhile.

You need to love the character Ahsoka and her already established backstory to fully enjoy this, although the flashbacks towards the end of the season do help (too late for newcomers). Even though TOR and Grey Jedi have been nuked from the Disney canon, we will always have Ahsoka, which to me is the closest approximate. This is not Andor, this is the mythological, mystical part of Star Wars, where vibe and worldbuilding is everything. I think it succeeds at that premise, for the most part.

Star Wars: Ahsoka really worked for me. It doesn’t reach the level of Andor —nothing does after that masterpiece— but it gets close enough to deserve a solid 9. Seeing Sabine, Ezra, and even Thrawn again was a thrill. Rosario Dawson nails Ahsoka, and Dave Filoni continues the Rebels legacy with care, ambition, and a touch of melancholy.
