I think that it is severely underrated; the Post-World 1 England atmosphere+ Fantasy Elements just worked like a charm. The series has an amazing feel to it, plus lots of interesting characters. It hits the discrimination button a bit too much and I didn't particularly like the direction they took half way through the second season, but all in all it is a very well-though-out setting and the storylines has some great stuff in them; seems like this is the end but I wouldn't mind a 3rd season.

This show has some good and bad elements to it. The world is interesting, but there are also some boring storylines at times. I think it takes a while to really establish the world and characters, so I wasn't really sure about the show at the start, but by the end I was excited to see what they did next. EDIT: Season 2 was disappointing

Just finished S2 and thoroughly enjoyed both series. That's not to say I understood everything but it's a testament to the production design, set construction, make up, cgi and acting which was faultless in their world building. I think the only downside is that the scriptwriters seemed hell-bent on creating an allegory of today's extremism and multicultural, refugee and migrant issues that it detracted from real imagination in that dept, but its a minor gripe. CD and OB put their heart in to it

Visually appealing. Story elements are pretty good with lots of potential. I liked it.

The 1st season of Carnival Row is a frustrating watch. The aesthetic is great as is mythology behind the races, but I really didn't like a lot of the creative decisions with regards to the plot and even the concept. The primary reason is the obviousness of everything. The themes of racism are unsubtly illustrated with Irish accents. The plotlines are clichéd and dragged over the 8 episodes. The show feels like a more contrived Penny Dreadful.

Rather interesting setting wasted due to bland main plot. May get better if it generates more seasons. By all means expect a typical black/white hollywood world though.

Got a bit of stick from the critics, but it’s easy watching and shows of some good world building. Solid.
