Rachel Bloom is a musical comedy genius. There's some truly hilarious stuff in this show. That being said, the story gets lost in some of the middle of the series. I think a big problem was caused by Skylar Astin leaving. They tried to bring his character back by the end but recast him and it didn't work for me. Some of the storylines however were brilliant, and the show did a pretty good job dealing with serious mental health issues as well.

Three seasons in, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is admittedly clever in its song composition, but ultimately frustrating in every other way. The main character, who is potentially sympathetic in the 1st season, is gleefully championed as a narcissistic, manipulative, borderline-sociopath. The remaining characters are a combination of wet and annoying and any decent human action is downplayed as folly. It's poor reflection of society played for comedy, and not nearly as good as the media hype dictates.

This is surprisingly the best thing ever as of episode 4. But into season 2, the characters feel irredeemably broken in a way that seems like contrived drama. It pulls a Six Feet Under season 2 move by destroying the decency & sympathetic quality of its best characters. Had to quit watching. Still, s1 has a special place in my heart.

very good drama, comedy, and musical. becca is a (lovable) bastard but doesn't go unchallenged with constant confrontation and tense scenes . I didn't love every beat in the show but they admirably commit to their characters and drama

It can be pretty goofy and annoying on occasion but it's fun, easy watching and Rachel Bloom and the musical numbers are pretty great.

Surprisingly good. This is the Rachel Bloom show through and through--the writing is pretty good and she's by far the best singer/performer/actor on the show. I also really enjoy her boss. Unfortunately all the rest of the actors really bring this down. They're poor actors and mediocre performers. It's also pretty cheesy at times, but that's understandable.

The episodes I watched had a couple catchy songs but ultimately were a little too twee and corny for me to want to keep with it.
