If anyone "deserves" to die, then obviously the relevant Purdue execs do as much as anyone ever has. Also obvious: it's easier to create a complex and humanizing depiction of Jeffrey Dahmer than Richard Sackler. They didn't even try to crack that nut here, but the result is a little silly and camp-icy by any measure. The user stuff is close to peak prestige after-school special and the legal/medical stuff neatly shows why trust-the-gov&docs types are as out to lunch as the Ivermectin junkies.

The story itself is soooooooo frustrating and sad.. To get all these timelines together, without causing any confusion, telling compelling stories and making you feel for every character is a great achievement. Amazing actors and good direction also helps. A great show.

An absolutely devastating mini series that chronicles the opioid crisis that was single handedly created by one greedy company. Lead by an ensemble cast it deals with heavy emotions and even heavier themes through out. Addiction is a major struggle facing many people who feel like they have no way out or nowhere to turn. This show has left me speechless, left me in tears and hopefully will open many people's eyes to the truth about big pharma. It's a very detailed series.

Dopesick isn’t easy to watch, but it’s definitely easy to recommend. Harsh, raw, and essential, it dives headfirst into one of the most devastating health crises of recent decades: the opioid epidemic in the United States. It doesn’t pull any punches, weaving together characters from every angle — doctors, FBI agents, victims, prosecutors — with a common enemy that has a very real name: Purdue Pharma. And the most chilling part is that everything it shows actually happened. Michael Keaton is ou

In the pilot characters are constantly saying out loud their intentions, thoughts and motivations to the point i died of exposition sickness. Poor Michael Stuhlbarg, his character is so one dimensional it must have been embarrassing for him to be involved in this. Dever is the most compelling part but couldn’t save it. I lol’d at the (i think unintentionally funny) line “So you’d choose coal over me?” during a lovers quarrel between coal miners.

Heartbreaking and enraging, just like the book. I could do without the constant back and forth through time, it would have scored in the 90s otherwise.

Almost a documentary through enactment. It is so realistic that it is almost impossible to differentiate the real footage from the shot one. Impeccable casting and intriguing cinematography make this one of the best series of the last years. I am also glad that Levinson did something significant 35 years after Rain Man.

A bit overrated. It tries to tell an important but complex, multifaceted story spread over decades and it bit more than it could chew. Because the show focused on the human dramas of the scandal, it had to condense and simplify the other aspects, at the cost of accuracy and believability. The worst example is the way Purdue Pharma and the Sackler were portrayed: closer to Dr. Evil than anything realistic. They are the bad guys of the story of course, but a more nuanced one could have been told.

Terrific episodes 1-7. Had Betsy’s plot been trimmed off or even cut shorter, episodes 1-7 would have been easy 9/10. (Nothing wrong with Betsy’s story, per say, and I completely understand why she was heavily focused on - but she as a character was archetyped to a blank slate with no personality - which cannot and should not substituted by sexual orientation alone). Ultimately dragged down by final episode 8. I understand that we could not get HEA, but it felt rushed and emotionally void.

A TV documentary trying to be a drama series way too hard.
