Remember when Eddie Murphy was funny? Those were the good old days. This is Eddie at his peak, even the stuff about gays is okay because he does it without a trace of hatred in his voice. So many classic bits... ice cream man, Uncle Gus and Aunt Bunny, Michael Jackson. There are a few parts that have lost their lustre after a few viewings, but for a lot of it I was laughing my butt off.

Some of the material fails to stand the test of time, but there's no denying the prowess of Murphy in this special. Seriously, what the hell happened to this guy that went from this all the way to Norbit?!?

I laughed, Mutphy's really good at weaving all the jokes together and has pretty good timing on his delivery. Standup doesn't really do it for me though, particularly something where half of it is outdated and rather simplistic or offensive.

Eddie Murphey in his prime. Raw and hilarious. Watch this and Daddy Day Care back to back to understand why comedians should never have children.

Like the F-Bomb? This movie is for you. His stand-up is somewhat dated and xeno/homophobic now, but Delirious really shows how he's not on ly a consummate storyteller, but can bond with an audience like the best stage actor.

Hilarious. "My mother ran in the bathroom, see my big brother sitting in the bathtub with a piece of shit in his hand in the tub, I was laying in the bottom of the water with blood gushing out my eye, G.I. Joe up my ass. My mother's like, 'What the fuck going on in here?'"

This is the best stand-up you will ever see: sharp, dark, edgy in the right ways and hysterical to watch. Eddie Murphy in his prime indeed.

I thought this was pretty hilarious. Murphy really does have some of the funniest stand-up I have watched. It did take a bit of a pause for me, but I started laughing my butt off again.

In my opinion the greatest stand up comedy show ever. Some might be offended now with the crude humor but its a must watch. To this day jokes from this set are used.

It's genuinely unbelievable how phenomenal a comedian Murphy was in the '80s. His stage presence is utterly magnetic and his material is still potent now.

It's crazy to see how tame Murphy is these days compared to how incredibly outspoken and fuckless he was back when he was a superstar comedian at my age. Although this set is more well performed than written, it's a hell of a performance, shoving all sorts of great anecdotes, impressions, '80s banter, and incorrectness in just over an hour.

I'm not big on stand-up specials, but Eddie Murphy kills in this stage performance. Forget everything you've seen him do in the last 10 years, and go back to when Eddie was cutting edge bad ass. HYSTERICAL!

an 80s classic. this, even moreso than raw, is vital in terms of the ability of a comedian to bond with his audience ... much like pryor's live in concert, rock's bigger & blacker and carlin's jammin in new york.

Even if we somehow forgive the homophobic bits, "Delirious" is sorely devoid of laughs. It relies heavily on mimicry, has weak punchlines and is bursting with unjustifiable arrogance. The crowd is seemingly having the time of their lives and apparently Eddie Murphy has been quite influential as a stand-up comedian too despite only ever getting to two specials, but if you want to see the charismatic actor in full swing you should look to his movies instead of the basic tomfoolery on display here.

Eddie Murphy used to be funny once? I never knew that! Well, the date of this is 1983, and in 1983 he was incredibly funny. It doesn't really seem like Murphy amounts to much cuz of all the toilet roles he's been taking (Nutty Professor, Dr. Doolittle, etc.) but this is a trip down memory lane and a well needed one too because this will never get old, just the new Eddie does.

It's not the extended tirade of hate speech Raw is, but it's still fairly dated and is often just Eddie talking fast, if not actually being funny.

Unlike RAW I only just watched this so don't have nostalgia interfering or context to enhance. As charismatic as he is the delivery isn't as consistently strong and allot of the material dated. A couple of good ones in there though.

Of course the racism and homophobia was wrong, and Eddie has publicly expressed regret over it. I don't really detect much hate though, just some dumb kid saying something insensitive for a laugh without understanding the consequences. What makes that bit of nastiness comment-worthy is that the rest of it is so genius. Eddie was a brilliant story teller, pop culturist and observational comic and, if you can get through the first five minutes, you'll be rewarded with a ton of great stand-up.

Yeah, I know Eddie Murphy's standup kind of sucks. (STOP LAUGHING AT YOUR OWN JOKES, A**HOLE!) But I loved this one as a kid, and it still holds a little charm. Unfortunately, the mentality is maybe 6th-grade level, while the language and subject matter are clearly very lowbrow adult.

Eddie Murphy's fucking hilarious in this and that's all you need to know. If Richard Pryor was the prototype Eddie Murphy is the finished product. It's too bad all that money and fame slowly deteriorated Murphy into a parody of himself but his comic timing and delivery was something wicked back in the day.

As a kid, I thought this movie was great, mostly because of the 'forbidden fruit' effect-- however, Murphy's comedy doesn't stand up to the test of time. Not nearly as good as George Carlin or Richard Pryor, in my opinion.

It may be unfair to compare it with Murphy's unparalleled Raw show, but this feels more dated, and great deal more scattershot. Still, some 30 years down the road, it definitely stills offers more laughs than most contemporary stand up shows.

Very good live concert film (not a documentary!). Much better than Raw, which was good. This is Murphy at the top of his game, raunchy and funny with an incredible fast, sharp wit. This is the non-family friendly version of Murphy and he's good.
