actually liked this one. it is quite ez-watching but often gives some feeling of unease mystery/horrors should. also lots of familiar tv faces including M.Emerson as a cherry on top

Evil is reminscient of the early X-Files, where logic could and would explain away the mystery. This show has perfected that formula, but will eventually need to commit to a direction. Until then, it's enjoyable for its case-of-the week episodes that aren't afraid to go dark. The cast is good though Herbers accent is a little distracting at times. There are seeds of an overarching storyline and I'm intrigued to see where it goes.

I love the Kings, and Michael Emerson, but the main character is infantile. The demons weren’t as funny as they thought they were. I think this just isn’t my genre, since people seem to love it.

I don't know if I'll keep watching this when the next season comes out. It's gotten too weird, and not really in a "I wonder how this is gonna turn out!" kind of way.

S01-S02

Competent character-building an storyline twists, but a bit too procedural with too much empty space to rate any higher.

Some interesting ideas make S1 probably worth watching, but by the end of S2 almost everything (plot, characters, revelations) is treading water, and in S3 everything just happens to happen so more happenings can happen. No logic or resolution or escalation aids these events — they're simply rushed to fill airtime, like a bad TV soap.

They set up some interesting situations then without fail simply abandon the story and let the plot fall flat. Threy see demons and angels on a daily basis, pull demons out of bodies, envisionin the future, and all the while they "don't believe in any of this crap". They don't seem to understand what it means to be an atheist. Everyone would belive in god if you could have lunch with angels, and ten demons wouldn't leave your living room. Why get engaged with the story if the characters won't?

As I don't consider myself to be the target audience, my score is more about "this show isn't for me, but I gave it a go", rather than "this show is bad". Albeit the demon in the first 15 minutes was just absurd.

(post 3rd season) Holy shit, what a stunning show. It combines demons, exorcisms and absurd and weird ass shit with savvy political stories about cryptocurrency, unionizing, the function of humor, racism and politics in the Catholic Church. It also has the best 4 children characters, used in such offbeat ways. This is excentric, engaging, intelligent and human storytelling at its best (was expecting that, considering the writer team has earned my trust for year. Long live the Kings).

S is for Silence

It definitely feels like network television complete with indecision on when to do one offs and when to stick to main story line, but so far the cast is charming, work well together, and stories are interesting enough. The episodes that are kid heavy can get a bit annoying, but I am still enjoying it through two seasons. EDIT - finished series. It gets a little ridiculous, particularly with the grandma, but it retains it's spirit. So score unchanged. Decent 2nd tier binge.
