Ewoks: The Battle for Endor

The ewok movies attest to the very moment george lucas lost every interest in filmmaking and became a full-on merchandise muppet. The first one (caravan of courage) could've counted as a failed attempt to expand the universe, but this time around there's purpose behind everything. Lucas has successfully identified kids as the target group to go for, if you're in for the payday rather than anything else. At least back then he had the decency not to put 'star wars' in the title.

Used to love as a kid...Realized it was crap

Oh, *much* better than the first one. It has a solid plot and solid acting and an actual goshdarn witch who uses magic. (The Expanded Universe just *layered* the retcons on her.) A worthwhile kids' adventure of the era; not something I think you need to seek out unless that's the kind of thing you're into (or you're a Star Wars completionist), but if a kid wanted to watch it, I would watch it with them and honestly have a Good Time.

An amorphous spin-off, so you take it or leave it. Forgotten already, but it was an improvement.

Much less fun than an Ewok movie starring Brimley and Gleason should have been – this is a bland and anodyne kids fantasy film that no doubt served as TV filler for a million Saturday afternoons, whose connection to any semblance of a STAR WARS related property is tenuous at best, and further hurt by ugly and (in the case of Wicket’s steely, unblinking eyes) unsettling character designs, especially on the Ewoks themselves. While the first Ewok movie at least had the potential to become a passable children's movie, this one never even aims for anything but direct-to-video fantasy shlock.
