Probably the funniest thing ever produced for television. It's more focused than Monty Python and most of the dialog is absolutely acerbic. Throw Cleese's penchant for absurd physical comedy into the mix and the result is a timeless, classic series.

A panic-induced fever dream of a self-loathing manic depressive. The relentless energy found in its dialogue and visual craftsmanship has yet to be matched in sitcom form, and is funny as sin. But its status as a television essential is assured by its uncorked (unhinged?) embodiment of British cultural angst (wit?). Just don't drink it all at once - it leaves you dizzy.

Fawlty Towers is a madcap classic of the situation Comedy genre. John Cleese has never been better as the hotel manager constantly on the verge of a mental breakdown.

the most hilarious tv show in the history of technology capable of projecting moving images with light, and will most likely continue to be so till the heat death of the universe.

Found this really sinister as a small boy but grew to love it like everybody else. Back when subtitles were in different colours we'd get drunk and do a kind of comedy karaoke to it, good times.

A mix of hilarious and dull. Cleese is definitely the funniest of the Monty Pythons and anything he touches turns to gold. Sadly, Fawlty Towers comes with some boring bits and some sketches that last for way too long. Funny shit though.

Funny stuff, with a number of lines and extended gags that are well written and performed. Cleese seems to be in top form here, given an exhaustingly humorous performance in all the episodes that best demonstrate both his physical and vocal abilities. Not all the jokes land, but they are few and far between.

Some episodes are rather underwhelming in the laughter department but at its best "Fawlty Towers" serves as a high-octane situation comedy boosted by John Cleese's charisma.

Highly re-watchable series, and I have been watching it over and again since I was a child.

(Completed) Has the cheesy screwball humor of Three's Company, without the sunny disposition. Those who grew up with angry abusive fathers might be left scratching their heads as to why this is considered funny. Scratch-scratchin away.

Essentially a slapstick farce, the quality of the writing elevates this to a level far higher. And it knew when to quit.
