Season 1: Antagonist is a bit over the top

Seasons 2 and 3 are not near season 1 in quality. Season 4 made a sweet comeback. Upgrade to tier 9.

Season 1 is watchable. However, it could have been a lot better with better editing (cutting out all the parts where there is nothing happening except background music) and cutting out some of the irrelevant side stories. Most of these issues are fixed in Season 2 which is much better

Only watched season one. It's very silly, especially the Bond-villain antagonist, but it sort of works. I like it when a serious show lets itself be silly. Sadly, the silliness was accompanied by too many cliches. But on the other hand, I could never guess where the story was going, so... 3/5

Series 1 review only. Completely unbelievable tosh, but its brilliantly performed, acted, cast and produced tosh and I loved every minute of it, particularly the automobile accident. Every character is fleshed out, and real (albeit over the top for a courtroom / lawyer drama ... but perhaps that is just my naivety ). I also loved the production values; the fast forwarding, sense of space, superb lighting, and great music. I could have done without the bloody clicker though.

S1 is alright, horrible music supervision but some witty writing. But at the end it all comes tumbling down when it loses its interest in the characters and alienated me with unlikely plot twists and the good ol' rushed wrap-up. S2 is unwatchable stock-everything, a true valhalla of tropes. Had to pull the plug and stop the torture.

Liked, with doubts, the 1st season. Stopped watching the 2nd season halfway through as just senseless awful brutality with no redeeming value. Yes, this exists in the world but no benefit or joy from sticking my head in the garbage.

Solid, entertaining courtroom drama. Imagine Coppola's Rainmaker, except with the lead from The Verdict. Also, William Hurt as the villain, drawing from Mr. Potter from It's a Wonderful Life. Denouement not entirely satisfying, but I enjoyed the series overall.

I dunno, Dave E., this all seems awfully silly... (And that's coming from a claymation dog!)

S1-75; S2-65; S3-10; S4-70. Great, timely and insanely relevant S4. S1 had a dark and brooding atmosphere of suspense and almost-occult mystery surrounding the manga-esque villain, with an emphasis on court proceedings and lawyer-y work, and an AMAZING intro song/sequence. S2 changes the dark setting to a seemingly lighter one that quickly turns psychotic and brutal, covering a lot more morally and emotionally charged material. S3 - didn't like it much, felt disjointed. S4 - absolutely great.

Surprisingly well made and very entertaining. Thorton is the asshole with the heart of gold and plays his part perfectly. Hurt is a bit cartoonish as a bad guy but its still effective. Probably the best Amazon original show I have seen. Series really strays a bit in the second season, almost to the point of abandoning it at the finale. Season 3 has highs and lows, but overall was an improvement. Season 4 returns to form, with a strong cast and good direction to wrap it up. Not amazing, but good.
