I liked this sequel about as much as I liked the original. It is a cute, harmless movie to watch for Halloween. The story picks up after the first movie. Kalabar's son comes to exact revenge on the Cromwell family for what they did to his father. After returning to Halloweentown, Marnie and her grandmother find that the whole town has gone grey. It is up to them to figure out how to turn around the spell that Cal has put on Halloweentown. And, they must do it before midnight or risk being stuck.

My favorite of the Halloweentown films, oddly enough. There's just something about it. It's not exactly consistent with the first film, but then again, this series really doesn't seem to care about continuity. It's not too big of a deal in this one, at least. The movie manages to play the emotional chords far better than the first one, and many of the unlikable characters have gotten much more likable, brother Dylan in particular. Also, Marnie and Luke endgame or bust.

good enough sequel to my favorite DCOM

It lacked the whimsy that I feel Halloweentown had. Nice to have the same actors but the storyline was just not as solid for me.

Decent kids movie

This was a big step down from the first one, but at least its watchable.

Rewatch: childhood nostalgia undoubtedly influencing my sore, but this movie is campy, festive fun. The plot is a good escalation from the original, special effects hold up well considering the age and TV-level budget, and the whole atmosphere is quintessentially Halloween-y with some surprisingly dark and stylish undercurrents!
