How I Met Your Father

I have seen all 30 episodes and all of HIMYM. HIMYF worst offense is that it's just not funny. I laughed only three times and i felt only the penultimate episode was decent. Aside from being unfunny HIMYF leans into drama too soon and too much, and tries to hard to copy the "group traditions" element of HIMYM. Aside from Charlie and Ellen the main characters are very bland. When Robin and Barney show up you can almost feel how much more interesting they are. Also, the laugh track is painful.

I have a fondness for the original series, despite its' many flaws, that I hoped would carry over to this series and make it a cozy sitcom to enjoy on lazy nights. Coming in with this much goodwill and extremely low expectations, I only lasted about 7 or 8 episodes. During those episodes, I did not laugh or even snicker a single time. What I did do was audibly cringe and yell at the screen. The only thing I asked of this show was for it not to be offensively bad. It did not deliver.

I think it's fun. It's not as hilarious as HIMYM was right away, but there are still some funny moments, some good characters, and I also appreciate the occasional connections to HIMYM. It's also nice seeing Hilary Duff in a leading role again. She's good at stuff like this. Would have loved to see the more grown up version of Lizzie McGuire as well, but this is fine too.

Not legendary - but better than its reputation.

I watched an episode and a half of this before giving up. It just lacks the charm of the original series, and it feels forced as a result.

Arrgghh laugh track sitcoms in 2022 are beyond painful, this should be in the rear view like black and white and silent film; truly the “when u nut and she keep suckin” of TV show formats

The absolute worst thing about the original series was how totally out-of-place the laugh track felt. I doubt my perception of this is accurate, but it feels like they turned the laugh track up 1000% more for this one. Anyway, while Duff is likeable, every other character is bland as hell. And none are really funny. I've really liked Lowell in other roles, so I think this just ultimately falls on piss poor scripts. (Only made it a couple episodes in.)
