How To with John Wilson

'Nathan for You' without humor.

How to win fans and alienate viewers at the same time.

Skip the first three. Or at least begin with 4-6. Those are 90 points!

While it has some funny commentary, the pacing is stretched out so slowly that it is rendered unfunny as a result. Almost put me to sleep.

I loved this. Every episode is a gem. Really funny and weird stuff. Wilson is a great filmmaker. And my god, his landlord is such a sweetheart

[through season 3]

Unexpectedly good surprise. So many lines are blurred with these mini-documentaries that you are often left wondering what you've even watched. This whole thing is genuinely beautiful and moving art, avant-garde hyperrealism or whatever you'd call it. Watch it.

Quirky, charming (all right, yes--these two words are almost synonymous for me), fascinating look at...well, life. WIlson's powers of observation of ability to synthesize what he sees are marvelous. This definitely has its own rhythm, so allow an episode or two to tune into but, but its rewards are many.

Season 1. Good-natured, lightly misanthropic observational humor that no doubt captures some real moments while also gently prodding the viewer to question the honesty of what they are being shown.
