Deer Woman

John Landis tips his hat to himself a few times, there's some incredible boobs and, well, nothing else. See it for the boobs.

Not exactly scary, but the comedy element works quite nicely and it's certainly what this really is, a comedy with some gore elements. Entertaining, not much more. Acting and dialogues work... but just because they're bad and it adds to the comedy element.

This is by far the best of the Masters Of Horror episodes I've seen. Brian Benben was great in this.

Better than average Masters of Horror effort featuring the most attractive deer you will ever see. The self referential Landis has set this one in the world of An American Werewolf in London (or so we're informed through some clumsy dialogue). Sigh.

I was fully expecting this to suck, but it doesn't. Though nothing hair-raising (Landis is not really a horror guy at all), it's still a very rare horror comedy that's actually decent fun to watch, and it's well above average for the "Masters of Horror" series.

entertaining stank

It's funny, and it's gory. It doesn't even try to be scary, which is to its benefit. I mean, how can you make something as comical as a weredeer scary? Did you think anything starring the Dream On guy would be especially dark? Maybe not on the level of that Werewolf thing dude did, but it's an amusing hour of film.

All this buildup dedicated to the investigator finding out what on Earth could be mutilating these men...and the movie's called 'Deer Woman.' Okay. And while we're at it, let's change the title of Citizen Kane to 'A Sled Named Rosebud.'

Landis isn't a Master of Horror, either. This isn't scary. I suppose this could have been meant to be funny, but it isn't that, either. The Deer Woman isn't even that cute. The reference to _An American Werewolf in London_ seems less like a joke than a nostalgic yearning for past glory days. Boy, does it suck to get old

Yes, the acting sucks and no, it's not scary (this was made abundantly clear in the dream sequences: you know, where the woman beats the trucker with a severed deer leg). But this is made much more important by the Agent's monologue on his dead partner: Landis is exorcising his demons on the Twilight Zone movie, admitting accidental culpability, in a touching, sad way: "My place on this earth was getting another man killed." Perfect tonal shifts, from comedy to gore to sadness.
