Misfits

If you were ever wondering what could X-men be if they weren't utter garbage, look no further than Misfits. First two seasons, though. And don't expect anything to actually happen. And that band that sounds so good on opening credits doesn't sound so good on its own. And seriously if you never tripled, well, try it and let me know how that went.

The first two to three seasons are good, but the show gets really bad after that.

the first 2 seasons are great, and then rudy arrives, a brilliant, horrifying character and a harbinger of the show's descent into charmless sociopathy. is it worse from that point? sure, but it's transitioned into something arguably more weird/interesting, while still witty and well plotted. you can't imagine even the first season being made and aired today, but it's child's play compared to the places it goes later, for good or ill. i haven't experienced anything quite like it.

1x; Stopped watching after S1.

Misfits is one of the funniest and most unique programmes to come out of the UK. Dark, violent and hilarious it's a more realistic take on the superhero genre with some really original ideas. Highly recommend watching if only for the first three seasons, although I am in the minority who still enjoyed seasons four and five. - Full Review

Overall, I admire how it consciously resists the grand overarching Ayn Rand/Nietzschean super-heroic archetype. We sorely need a critique of this kind as the tired Marvel/DC narrative structure still seems all-pervasive in contemporary culture. At times, the humour feels a little dated (perhaps coming too much out of a Channel 4, Gen-X 90's lad culture), but it still well worth a good binge.

First season was good, the rest, not so much

Score referring only to the first two seasons, which are brilliant, smart but extremely transgressive humor. The show goes completely to shit afterwards, so I tell everyone to pretend it was canceled, which isn’t hard as season 2 ends has an ending that might as well be the conclusion. Avoid everything afterwards, seriously.

Loved the first two seasons for the cool quirky characters, then it was completely different and not worth watching.

sooo, where do i go from here?
