Poetic, allegorical, and sublimely calm. Not overbearingly "moral", yet woven thick with a sense of natural love for life: struggle, death, tranquillity, beauty, sickness, power, humanity.

I personally love this series, but at the same time, I find it hard to recommend. It's a melancholic show driven by often times slow and hardly exciting stories which are somewhat formulaic. Still, the show experiments a lot with human relations and the mushi themselves are an interesting concept. Ginko himself is not a particularly interesting character, but he works well enough as an observer of sorts to the events that unfold each episode... not to mention I like his cool ass jacket.

The natural and supernatural intertwine in this bestiary with a relaxed pace. The mushi's various affects on the environment are fascinating but it's how these extraordinary creatures change ordinary lives that is the compelling aspect of this series. And the element of horror that occasionally creeps in, although mild is quite chilling all the same.

A little slow. A little heady. I like this type of anime, but it's not for everyone.

Pretty good and calm series. It always gives a few things to think about, but remains relaxing like an afternoon nap.

Can be repetitious at times, but it's got a calm atmosphere to it that is just great to chill out in. The Mushi are always interesting.
