Nathan for You

The greatest achievement in reality TV thus far, and likely the best to ever be achieved. No show has been able to achieve such hilarious results out of its conceit, and Nathan's decision to commit to literally everything he says generates some of the most fascinating responses in human behavior ever caught on tape. This is the kind of show hack producers have been trying to make for years, and a genius is using it to tell kids they're babies if they don't buy a shitty ball. I love you, Nathan.

It's more difficult to rate TV shows than movies, because the volume of content means that there's always going to be some bad that comes along with the good. Not all the episodes are great, but "Souvenir Store," "Dumb Starbucks," "Electronics Store" and "The Hero" are some of the most impressive episodes of television I've ever seen, and frankly, there is not a single comedian in the world right now who is doing anything remotely comparable to Fielder in terms of ambition or sheer hilarity.

Yes, it's immensely entertaining, but at what cost? On one hand, "you can never cheat an honest man" in this case. But it's very mean spirited at times.

At its best Nathan For You is incredible performance art and brilliant criticism of society. Transcends the medium in meta ways almost too impressive to be believed.

Ulrich Seidl for the masses.

Many pranks are better and funnier than others, but a surprising majority are funny. Sometimes the show can get a little mean spirited and isn't as great to watch in those situations, but it's thankfully a minority. Nathan's character is done very well and never breaks the whole time I've seen it so far.

Nathan's plans for these businesses are fairly ingenious and amusing, but they just get even moreso as he navigates the legality of what he's doing, all the while maintaining a sharp sense of humour and a particular relationship with the working class, which showcases both their wholesomeness and their quirks ("if you scared, you drink the small child's pee").

after watching episodes and as many videos of Nathan online, I'm still not sure if he doesn't break character or if this is really him. but i guess that's the kind of character you get when you go to one of canadas top business schools and graduate with really good grades.

One of the most fascinating bits of television ever produced but yeah can be a bit mean sometimes and not every episode is a winner.

I used to think that this was the smartest comedy I had ever seen. Then I noticed Fielder for the dirtbag he is. He is a gaslighter. A liar. A con. A manipulator. An expert of subversive psychological warfare. These aren't traits I want to see more of in the world.
