Undeniably charming clay animation that's pretty much guaranteed to please young kids. At least untill they get invariably traumatized by the surreal horror of "Pingu's Dream" episode. I approve either way.

This is obviously only for small kids. But I have never met a child who doesn't love Pingu.

The animation is doing some heavyweight lifting that the series doesn’t even need dialogue.

Brilliantly simple and creative. A joy.

I watched and rewatched about a dozen episodes a dozen times as a kid, but I'm proud to say that, as a grown adult, I've watched the rest (of the original series, with the original voices). I really got into the simplified society Pingu lives in, which isn't unusual for a kid's show -- what was unusual was the amount of domestic darkness, but combined with the lightness made this show special. I'm probably being too nice with this rating, I need to watch this sober.
