Extremely cheesy piece of army advertising on how it deals with its deceased. Drools of propaganda, lacks depth and its naivety certainly reeks of army totalitarianism over this movie. Couldn't finish it. Not a Bacon fan, and that's an euphemism, but even I am let down by the fact that he took a role in this film.

Unbearably solemn and cheesy propaganda, like a Fox News Special TV-Movie. lol @ when he stays overnight with the corpse. Are you fucking serious?

A very simple, predictable movie with no surprises. But my word you can't take your eyes off it. Kevin Bacon is understatedly excellent. A really good movie

Well-acted by Bacon, and this is a sensitive portrayal of the people involved, but it is also a lost opportunity to critique the circumstances either the war or how Americans relate to their military.

Quick disclaimer, I'm not American. With that in mind, this is a bizarre film. It's almost like it's been made specially for the people involved in the story. We go through Bacon's journey step by step and it's so, so boring.

Kevin Bacons quiet, dignified portrayal is both tragic and heroic in this must-see drama. If you fail to tear up while watching this movie you have no soul..If our lawmakers responsible for waging war watched this, they would think twice before doing so. A fitting tribute to those young men/women who have given their life in service to this country.

Pure pro-American propaganda with a support-our-troops ribbon tacked right on the front. Still, the emotional power of Bacon's performance combined with the fact that this realistically depicts many American patriotic attitudes (at least in the rust belt or Red-State America), makes it a fitting tribute to the men & women who have served America and died fighting. For a more raw and meaningful portrayal of the effects of war-time on soldiers and their families see The Messenger, also from 2009.
