Ted Lasso

Finished season 3, this started as a kind of cute show in a time of lockdown where people needed some comfy fantasy and it was nice. The cracks start to show early in S2 with a saccharine to the point of vomit xmas episode. Now we have S3, which is filled with interminably long plot lines with zero juice and the vibe/humour is cloying to the extreme. Its success was its downfall and it's probably for the best it has now been put to sleep.

(S1:75/S2:40) S1 balances positive, lighthearted comedic elements with depth, pathos and fairly dynamic characters. S2 is a soulless husk that seems designed by committee using some script generation algorithm developed by a marketing team in order to replicate the first season's success. Unable to comprehend how the show revealed its heart to viewers in S1, they tore it out, and tried jamming it directly down the viewer's throat with every trite, stereotypical and saccharine gimmick possible.

A supervillain origin story. Well done.

Tried to like it on account of so many positive reviews, but I found it completely mediocre and, oh no, so very American in its disgusting flatness and inofensiveness. Title character is annoying in his quirky wise man antics, female boss and her ex husband are both horrible people so, although we're supposed to, I couldn't root for her, most of the team are cardboards, Coach Beard is Silent Bob.. So yeah, not going to watch this to its bitter end.

The most overrated show I’ve ever seen!!! It’s not funny, not morally redeeming, and wraps itself all in this soap opera-like aw-shucks cheese. I really do not understand why so many people seem to like this show.

Season 1 is a really endearing show filled with lots of loveable characters and lots of fun jokes. I really enjoyed it (75) Season 2 I couldn't finish because it lost what made it special. There are some jokes there, the characters are all still there but everything's just much worse. It's all down to execution. If you wrote down the plot points of S2 down, it would seem good but the execution is rushed and worst of all, not funny and forced. (35) Maybe a S3 brings it all home.

The later seasons are so cringe. The wholesomeness has been poisoned with how fake it seems.

It's honestly just refreshing to watch something where the main character is wholesome and nice and the message is positive.

I don't have much interest in soccer but I do like Sudeikis so I gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised. The entire cast does a pretty good job, and although there are plenty of sports stereotypes, the whole thing is handled with care and skill so it never drags it down. I would definitely watch more of this.

Not all series settle for just entertaining; some achieve something more-they leave you with a lasting warmth. Ted Lasso is one of those rare gems. At a time when many comedies rely on sarcasm and irony, Ted Lasso dares to take a different path: kindness and optimism. And the best part? It does so effortlessly, with a warmth that feels genuine. It's the kind of story that arrives just when you need it most. Jason Sudeikis brings Ted to life, an... - Full Review
