Maybe this is where my fascination with stop-motion started?

The story is a bit disappointing. The animation is fine, as Rankin and Bass know how to do that well, but the "I hate people!" bit is a bit strained.

Terrible animation and mediocre plot, but that should be expected considering it's rather stilted production capabilities and origins. I'm Christian, and I've never been able to get behind this.

Pretty terrible, but I've always thought the story was kind of dumb. A kid plays drums for Jesus, whoopee doo.

More of a Holy-Day special (see what I did there), The Little Drummer Boy is yet another stop motion production from the minds of Rankin/Bass (damn do they like Christmas!) This is more of a "Jesus" centric story, although I don't know why he keeps trying to interfere with our consumerist pageantry...give it up already! Christmas is about getting presents, getting drunk, making out with your cousin's fiancee and fighting with your dad. Not about Big J and his birthday. Take that Christianity!

Depressing beyond belief in the beginning, but it ends on a happy note, so yeah, that's good right?
