Set in 1950s Manhattan, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is a 60-minute dramedy that centers on Miriam "Midge" Maisel, a sunny, energetic, sharp, Jewish girl who had her life mapped out for herself: go to college, find a husband, have kids, and throw the best Yom Kippur dinners in town. Soon enough, she finds herself exactly where she had hoped to be, living happily with her husband and two children in the Upper West Side. (imdb)

Some of the best TV writing in recent years, and the cast is incredibly talented in their ability to deliver their performances. The long takes are especially impressive. Well deserving of all the awards it gets nominated for.

This show is such a delight; the idea seems so counter to the kind of shows I typically enjoy, but the cinematography, writing, and pacing of the show are excellent - exactly what's needed when you're cooped up in social distancing in 2020.

Sherman-Palladino's writing requires skilled acting to pull off. The actors that can pull it off--notably Midge, Abe, and Rose--are a true joy to watch. The flip side is that most actors just can't, and it feels so overwritten when they try. But the good is so good that I can forgive it its flaws. A real surprise hit for me. Tony Shaloub is a national treasure. S3 edit: Story has never been the show's strength and it feels like it's now relying too much on narrative, which slows things down.

Really good fun series. Crucially, the stand-up segments are well written and performed. If I have a criticism, it's that the middles seasons do a lot of meandering and going off on tangents rather than staying focused on the central story. At times it felt like excuses were being made to ruin all the characters lives. They managed to wrap it all up in the final season quite nicely, but it feels like that season 3 flab could have been used to march us on further.

First couple of seasons are amazing, I'm only rating it that high because of them. There's still plenty of good bits afterwards but there's also more and more frustrating stuff. By season 5 I felt like fast-forwarding through a lot of scenes. Soooo I'd recommend dropping it after season 2 but if you insist on continuing, expect to see some great characters turn into caricatures of themselves.

I know the show is based on feminism, but it's a bit overkill for me. Didn't like it much.

The art direction & costuming in this are superb, and the historical accuracy, from what I've heard, is pretty good. Unfortunately, it's just not that funny. It's like watching post 2011 SNL on an average/bad night. Like being at a cocktail party with the Hollywood's most mediocre gliteratti and listening to their safe, tedious cocktail banter. Didn't find any characters remotely likable or sympathetic, either.

The most marvelous writing in a (mostly) comedy TV series in a long time. Situation comedy is really good, but here there is an unprecedented attention to detail in the dialogues, every character is unique and brings something. It seems that there are dozens of quality TV series in the dark, criminal genre, and very few investment in the comedy genre, and I hope The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will change that.

Season one is excellent. Season two felt like a epilogue. Very entertaining but the story was already over. With season three, it feels like the epilogue is twice the length of the original story.

I wasn't paying much attention but I think it wanted to say women are funny too, or even funnier. It's not about gender, it's about quality. (And if you use a 'pretty face' to show that, you know, something is not right.)

S2 Wow. Just WOW. The energy of the dialogue and the perfect cast, delivery and execution of the whole series is something to be admired. The show has an amazing cast - main and supporting - clever and witty and masterful writing and plot progression, and unbelievable amounts of energy. The humour is superb with jokes and - again - delivery to be admired. Well done Sherman-Palladino. Great work Brosnahan. And kudos to Amazon - keep up the good work. Love it.

A real roller coaster of a dramady with fast paced dialogues that feel as witty and a little less restrained than those on Gilmore Girls (also from Amy Sherman Palladino)

W4E2P2S1V1M1A2R3. Fast paced, quick witted, short and sweet, incredible lead. Lots of good things. Maybe this has been done before and I just didn't see it, but it's sort of amazing that a serious drama about a stand up comic (allowing them to intersperse actual stand-up in between the drama) feels like a brand new thing.
